I've heard the same thing with the ring trick on humans. It's an old, old method.
Personally I like to stay away from stuff like that. If it doesn't work (which logically it SHOULDN'T) then I don't get misled. And if it DOES work, then you've got to wonder why and what you're messin' with.
But that's just me.
Good luck on the broody. You ever thought of trying silkies or other bantams? That's how I've done it for years. They make good, dependable mamas (most of them!).
