I have a Barnevelder that growls once in a while. Never broody, just a witch of a hen!

They have just recently started this SO MAYBE Im working towards a broody

One of my hens was hiding in a nest box tonight. I think the group is bored as was picking on her. Not broody, and even if she was was, it would do no good, no roos in the flock.

No roos?? Why not??

Close-by neighbors did not enjoy the 4:45 Saturday morning wake up call in the summer. Barred Rocks are not known to be broody. The roos were more trouble than they were worth. I want to experiment and rotate different breeds through the flock over the years - gives me a reason to buy more fuzzy butts.
