Dead chicken! I found her (alive) under a japanesse maple. Purple comb and purple legs, and was still alive. Then this nasty looking water come out of her mouth. Then was twitching and died. Heart attack, maybe?
Purple comb and legs sounds like serious dehydration. She could have been crop bound (nasty water out of her mouth). Sorry!

Butter making in progress!! :woot

Today when we went down the road we stocked up on a variety of things. At TSC we got 50 lbs of Whole Corn, 100 lbs. of Flock Raiser, 50 lbs. of oats, and 50 lbs. of rabbit pellets. Then two bales of pine shavings.

At Walmart we got some whole Milk. Some bread making supplies.

So we are making butter and buttermilk the Granny which I have no clue why I didnt consult her first considering she used to sell butter, milk, and buttermilk.

1533_sam_1764.jpg

From left to right is two quarts of heavy cream, our 100 year old butter churn, a gallon of whole milk, and her antique butter mold.

So we combined the cream, milk, and cup and a half of buttermilk (after we sterilized the churn).

1533_sam_1765.jpg

All mixed together.

1533_sam_1766.jpg

So we put cling wrap over the lid tightly with a plate over it. Then banded the plastic around the churn. Right now its on the porch clabbering for our butter making tommorow. :D :D :D :D :D

Buff is happy!!
