Wow definately a keeper and she should be pampered
I've rubbed all over her lately, just so proud of her. I wanted her put down because of her conditions. The Barn is going to be all but free, the tin may be coming from our cabin. Its got some damage from the storm near the top. So we will be able to include pens and cages. In order to be a high ranking state officer, I need these more 'commercially' directed ventures. Being SS won't cut it with them, they need big profit. So having a large Rabbitry will help will Heritage Breeding Pens as well......... :D
Dual purpose farming eh? If anybody can pull it off, you can little brother ;)

sounds great buff!
just dont let it take all the fun out of this for you, i know you enjoy your chickens and buns, and theres a fine line when your entering the "comercial" side of thigns. ive known many people who loved the homesteading life start more comercial ventures only to have it suck all the stuff they loved about it right on out! do it ONLY if your enjoying it! :)

Yepp dual purpose :D Thanks for the confidence. I want State President, so I must compete :D Plus the hatching eggs can make money if done correctly as can the rabbits. I have been combing Ebay for the going rates, and I am quite impressed :D

According to my plan for the barn, we can have:

16 (3 by 3) Rabbit Cages
3 (8 by 8) Breeding Pens
1 (12 by 12) Stall for Cow
2 Auxiliary Stalls

And I think how everything is working out for less than 1000 :D

I don't mean commercial commercial. I mean enough to satisfy the Kentucky FFA Association. I enjoy it immensely!!

Well I had a day off today. Have not done one thing :p Read and caught on school reading but that is it!

Tomorrow should be busy though:

1. Prepping an onion bed, and then setting the plants.
2. Transplanting broccoli and cabbage sprouts to larger containers.
3. Finish the brooder up.
4. Draw up the plans for the barn.
5. Going to tractor supply and get my calf supplies to have on hand.

I did however discover today that the duck only has 6 eggs compared to her original 13. :( I didn't move the chickens out and I suspect that they have been in there messing around when she is off of them. But that's okay. After I get the rabbits raised and their new place setup (explained below) I want to turn that into Duck/Turkey house/coop. Hopefully I will be able to.

I was figuring costs up, and it would be SOOOO expensive to build 16 cages. Plus furnish them with nests, feeders, hay feeders, and waterers. So I have decided to just make a large Rabbit colony room in the barn instead of multiple cages. Less expensive, and I have the young babies to start out with for it. A 12 by 24 colony room to be specific....so somewhere around 10 or 12 does. With grazing possible later on.

And one doe keeps peeing on her kits. Why I don't know. I guess where I check em a lot she reclaims that way, just guessing......who knows.

How does the colony deal work? I thought they HAD to be seperated, so they didn't reproduce too much/eat each others babies/etc?

Welcome to my lazy world Buff! Clear off a spot among the piles of junk collecting around me and sit a spell

I'm not keeping a buck in with them all the time. From what I can tell its fairly simple. Give them enough room and life is good.

I hope I don't sit on a Banjo that would hurt :p

And I thought I was the only one! I got almost nothing done today either. I just didn't feel like moving.
