I ALWAYS give the chickens my scraps from food or canning, and it actually makes the hens look better and boosts production. Are you canning any of your pork?
My chickens don't eat enough of it to give it all to them. So I wind up composting the majority while they are on bug patrol :hu Hmmmm...canning pork...probably will. I actually hadn't thought about it, but thanks for the idea :D

Mine gobble all that junk up!!! Maybe I need a better free ranging roo? :p

We are canning the sausage, ham dices, and bacon (I have a recipe link to a good looking method for it). Then I guess freeze the rest, I hope we have ground beef left this fall so I can experiment with a few meals-in-a-jar recipes. I want to can any chicken we have left this fall too, and dice it up.

And the tater madness continues!!! Mom got half of them hilled, while I put down some plastic in the tomatoes. Now the other half of the taters needs finished, and mulched with the straw. Then we are done with the taters, :woot

My bags are packed, only a few things left to do. Then I will be done here almost. Still need to get the meat rabbits moved....and in a clean bin.

I am absolutely worn out!!!!!!! :th It took me forever to mulch the taters!!!!! Then Mom and Auntie plowed to get ready for their plantings in the morning, and then I will do the pumpkins, cantaloupe, and watermelon when I return. I am just worn out!!! I got Sis to feed tonight while I mulched then I had to move the meat rabbits so they will be clean while I am gone. Then I had to teach Mom lockdown incubation, :th I hope to God she remembers what I told her. They go to lockdown Monday night, and I will have to call her and walk her through it. Just the wrong time for me to be gone :/

My bags are packed, and my books are together. I will be reading Self Reliance Proof Your Pantry while on vacation :p   We leave at 4 in the morning from here, and I think if I am not mistaken we will be going right through Cindi's area on the way down. I will be blowing kisses :p We are going to be there 6 days, and 2 days travel. So I come back to the Homestead a week from tomorrow.

Pray that we get there and back safely, since my relative had that accident I am very weary of traveling, I should be a recluse. :p But please do it'd be appreciated :)

Now I am fixing my iPod with some musicals for travel tomorrow, and charging my phone. See ya'll!! Hopefully I will be in contact some way!! :frow
