When you make a purchase.

I went on a vacation in Canada and a few weeks later, I had some false charges on my card from Canada. I had only used the card once or twice in clothing stores so it had to be from that.

The bank very nicely removed the charges. They could see what happened. There was no cost to me.

There are dozens of ways they get your card #:
- online purchases (keystroke recorders, hacked etc)
- people (wait staff / cashiers/ person processing your online order)

Once they have your card number it could be an "amateur" who uses the card themselves, or a major organization who puts your number on a different card and sells it as part of a "bundle" online (they even have packages and guarantees - as in "Platinum Package - guaranteed $5000 limit, usage up to $4k).
That is one reason of many you should always destroy any type of credit / debit card, even if it is expired or the magnetic strip is bad.

Sorry for the ramble :)

Some would call it FUNNY!

For the last 5 minutes I have been calling sister and making my number blocked. She kept saying it was thi girl from school. I was laughing really hard and I was saying it aint her. She kept on "YES IT IS". I kept calling and finally my laughter overcome me and I laughed really hard. But what I was doing was I had my phone on the computer and she couldnt see it because of my laptop lid. I also had my ear plugs in listening to music so I wouldnt be suspected...........
