i'm sure there is a way - now if they did it or not thats another thing.
;-)

when i worked in corporate i sat in on a demo of a product that helped legal teams "procure" discovery... it was a way to search email for damaging evidence. as part of it they used "hey" in the search and showed how easily it is to pull up employees personal emails. they figured that "loose lips" would use casual conversation like saying "hi" or "hey" when spilling corporate secrets.

from then on i never used work email again for anything but the most factual information. altho for a while i did send a buncha "dummy" emails to see if they were watching. i wont reveal what happened
;-)

* cut to scene, a well heeled OFG then a corporate monkey, under bright lights The Man interrogated her using the vilest of means.... screams "i'll never talk! i'll never talk!"...fade to black as the screams continued....*

I always suspected OFG was a corporate spy in her other life >.> <.<

Does anyone know if a company can monitor one of their vehicles using a Garmin or TomTom. In other words check up on their employees driving habits and the routes they are taking.
Yes. Quite a few stories have popped up about people getting busted for their personal or improper use of company vehicles.

Even if you don't have gps in your car, you can be tracked by a company issued smart phone.

We have to take a security course every year. One of the big no no's besides no porn sites is using company e-mail for personal use. I'm extremely careful. I don't want to lose my job over some stupid e-mail or visiting an unauthorized site.

I wonder if companies like UPS and Fed Ex routinely track their trucks. I imagine they do, for liability reasons if nothing else.

Our company only issues dumb phones. We have laptops if we need to receive an e-mail or important info. They even have a text block on them and all internet features are blocked.

I heard they were starting to make phones that transfer data into your brain when you talk on them. It's like having a chip embedded. That way they can track where you are all the time. It's a homeland security thing.

Yeah, I could understand where a phone embedding the coordinates would be very useful for documentation purposes. It's funny how much stuff shows like CSI make people think that science can do. I wonder how accurate that GPS on the phone is. As in within feet and inches.

As an unrelated but sort of related question. Does anyone know if a company can monitor one of their vehicles using a Garmin or TomTom. In other words check up on their employees driving habits and the routes they are taking.
That works with two cans and a string. It's the way our ears are connected to our brains.

I thought I heard a friend saying his company did exactly that with the company vans...

In this day and age...the age of the baby boomers... Is it difficult to imagine your parents or grandparents (or even ourselves) learning to use these high tech toys without knowing the risks? It's all happening so quickly. My parents are on facebook! My kids are saying..."my grandparents are on facebook."

We had typewriters in school...no computers. There are some of us that don't know that this is even possible:/

I appreciate this heads up and will share it! Luckily my camera/phone is waaaay obsolete:)

You think 2 cans and a string is safe? Man you better tighten up the security.
