BeccaOH: Update of just STUFF

OK so mostly I'll need to get cattle panels and more 2x4's.. I already have a couple of tarps...One I'm currently using on the outdoor chick brooder on rainy days...but I can move the chicks out to a bigger area and use their tarp for a hoop house! :D

I'd love to figure out a way to attach heavy clear plastic to a hoop house and create a green house. Tarps have the grommets for tie downs. Not sure how to secure plastic.

lotsa staples... :P

Sure is looking swell, Becca!

STAPLES! *smacks self on head* and I've got two staple guns, Becca! ;)

Yah, yah, I guess there probably would be enough places to staple too. Now where to buy a huge sheet of heavy clear plastic -- but I'm getting ahead of myself AGAIN. Got to finish the coop first. :D

Just make sure you can find the staples and staple gun when you are ready! Chad buried his somewhere in the shed and we had to HAND HAMMER all the staples into the quail pen.....3 hrs later :th

The hoop house looks great! I may do something like that as a green house too.......hmmmmmmm

i dint know if i can describe this well enough but to fasten plastic to your hoop house you can do this:
get twice the length of each side of HH worth of 1" or 2" or whatever black pvc pipe (the kind used for irrigation lines) and cut into four lengths 2 for each side now with two of them you want to cut them almost in half lengthwise (i use tablesaw dont know if anything else would work) now fasten larger half to bottom of each side. now cover HH with poly min 10mil i would say make sure you have lots of overhang then push the full piece of pipe into the the half piece with the poly inbetween.
this is how i cover my HHs and it works great i live in wind central too and no problems yet!!!
i would use this technique for any covering not just clear poly.
be well
hope this helps
i can try to describe better if you have any questions

That pipe idea sounds great. Maybe I'll remember it next spring, when we'll be setting up our greenhouse again. We used clear plastic used for construction purposes. A friend had it and we bartered for it.

I think I get the picture. Thanks for the tip! :D

Moved the hoop coop into position, but I still have to do the door latches and rig up the brooder light before putting in the chicks. It is raining buckets here today. :/

Thought I'd load up some pictures of the chicks in my basement.

I found a good photo box was the empty refrigerator freezer in my garage. LOL
