Don't worry about that soft side...I have it also! I have a really hard time killing rabbits and cried all the while, the last time I did. I can't say why, as they weren't pets and were bred for meat, but it made my skin crawl to kill them. :hu

Ok Bee, I have the solution to both our soft sides. You can come dispose of a few silkies for me and next time you get ready to slaughter rabbits I will come visit you.

Maybe we can get Sam to meet us at your place. LOL

Moving a determined broody to the broody pen tonight and hope that she will stay on the nest.

Mama hen and two babies, Thunder(the big gray hen biddy) and Lightning(little red roo) will be joining the flock back in the big coop tonight. They had a night there already and did great, so this time its permanent.

Our egg production dropped sharply in about two days time, from 24 to 12. Now, being free rangers, my first thought is to the truant newcomers who have not layed an egg yet, but I suspect are hiding eggs. Now, I think they are leading a revolt.....so the hunt is in earnest to find the hidden nest(s).

AND, I think we found a nice little hole dug under the foundation of the shed into which I suspect our hens are disappearing and laying their eggs. One more hole blocked off, wired over, etc. Pretty soon there won't even be a place for a songbird to develop a nest! :p

Found a new mantis tiller on Amazon for around $54 and free shipping, so will probably spring for this in the absence of ever finding a good, big Troy-bilt for cheap around here. No fair trade-off, IME, but even a little Mantis is better than going into the garden season with no tiller. I used my mom's Mantis last year and they are powerful little diggers. As usual, being poor and SS, I will make do with what the Good Lord provides and be thankful for my blessings! :)

Oh, forgot to add that I planted all my herbs and perennials to flats today and they are currently under grow lights. I am finding I have many more flats and space than I need.....any suggestions for something to plant? Like maybe some annuals to sell at roadside or to place in planters for the porch....like petunias, lobelia, portulaca?

I would have to order those seeds, as I can't find them around here in stores.

Also....got to see my future pork project today! :celebrate Cute, little and shy...she will be weaned in mid-May and I will post pics of her when I finally get her on good, green grass. Her litter mates have all chewed each other's tails and ears and it looks awful, but my sis says she is not clipping teeth. I'm wondering if this is a sign of some kind of deficiency? Or is it completely normal for piglets to chew each others tails off? Will do some research on this...... :caf

Ahhh LOLA!! lol!
I haven't decided on Lola or Etta James~I love her singing and this is a little black pig, so I thought it would suit. Is that non-PC? I don't know but its not meant to be derogatory at all. :p

She does LOOK like a Lola, though.....those floppy ears hanging down in her face give her a coy, come-hither sweetness as she peers out from behind her "tresses". :D

A busy little Bee as usual.
I think if I were you and I were having to order seeds for flowers I would order some Marigolds. The ones that are supose to deter some pest. Can't remember which ones exactly those are. And maybe some petunias. You could use some of the Marigolds in your garden and sell some along with the petunias.
