Gosh Bee why did you do that to me. I have not read the Left Behind series in years. I have the whole set around here somewhere. Read them like crazy when they first came out. Would finish one and could not wait for the next one to go on sale.

Now I am thinking, "I don't really remember the details and have to go read them again". Which book are you on?

DD just walked in the room. Reading over my shoulder and informed me my books are 90 miles away at my moms house. :he

Now I have to wait until this weekend to go get them.

 I am just now on the Assassins one and can barely stand to stop reading...I take each book everywhere I go so I can read them in any down time! If ever there was a time to read them, I think this is it!

I often wonder how I would do if I were one of the left behind, how I would manage. I've even felt that, though I won't be left behind, that the food that I store and the garden and livestock would be important sources for someone else who may need them in the times that follow after the Rapture. Just think what a great resource an off-grid homestead would be to people who will be dealing with fuel, food and transportation shortages. How well a strawbale/cob home would ride out earthquakes, how well carefully labeled and stored seeds may help provide food, how healthy livestock could provide brood stock for more food. If one had a windmill and solar panels for an energy source already in place. All of these things....cellars for underground food storage and refuge, ways to grow food, independent sources of fuel, or even some good books on how to make or grow things without using electricity will come in handy.

Some folks think that I think WAY too much! :p

I am guessing that anyone that shows up and any of our houses will find a treasure trove of info, wonderful stores of food and so many ideas they won't live long enough to use them all. LOL

You keep right on THINKING. Your thinking keeps me thinking.

I actually think the same way!!
Weird things like: I know how to make my homemade laundry detergent by memory but, I want to write it out and tape it to my laundry making supplies. If there is no power then that tiny hand washing machine would be really nice and useful for whoever is hiding out in my house. They would need an outside brick grill unit for cooking. Printing off instructions for homemade solar heat panels and at least having the supplies on hand. Writing a letter for whoever is in my house and kind of explain what is going on. Also stocking things that I know they would need...lots of matches and things like that.

I've dreamed bigger dreams of this that will probably never be put into action, but I've actually planned out a homestead in a valley near here that would be an excellent refuge for people who need to survive and hide.

The house would be strawbale/cob with a living roof, backed up to a hillside where the cellar would be. Water piped from the abundant springs up on the mountain would provide gravity fed water right into the cellar and kitchen itself. Thick, two-layered, oak shutters on the windows~that actually shut and bolt~ with shooting peeps in them. A windmill that is painted brown and close to the tree line and solar panels that are level with the greenery on the living roof would provide discreet power sources and hard to spot from the air. If the cob was in earthtones, the whole place would be very hard to spot from the air. Sort of like a hobbit house!

This place I'm thinking of is backed by many acres of uninhabited wilderness, abundant with springs, caves and wildlife. What a place to go to ground at, that's for sure! If you could keep your wood stove pipe covered with a dispersal-type cover that broke up the smoke column, like a screen of some kind, and burned well-seasoned hard woods, a person would be well-nigh undetectable from the air or satellite.

As you can tell, I've done ALOT of thinking about this type of thing. I have a little trouble getting my mind to shut down when I go to bed..... :p

I love the "Left Behind" series. I think I studied the Bible while I read that more than any other time.

You're right, you think too much. :D But, if and when the situation comes, I'd want to pitch my cob house right next to you. :bow

Bee thank you for posting all your thoughts. Years ago I too was a thinker just like you. My mind just would not shut down at night and I actually thought about things a lot like you. Of course I did not know about cob houses but I had this cave all decked out and could have survived in it for years.
Life seems to have taken over somewhere along the line and my thought of survival kind of turned to my daily existant. Lately I have been moving back to my thinking cap. My imagination was always so vivid and somewhere along the line in the last 12 years it seems to have fallen by the wayside.
I think you have inspired me.
So now you are not only a superhero but an inspiration.

How does it feel to be so cool?

Worst thing we can do is rush the holiday season by.....seems the stores have done that already.....all christmas stuff on sales now and being wiped off the shelf and gone. seems like the stores think the holiday is almost over...heck it hasn't even started to me yet..HA HA

you sound happy! that is a great thing!

and snuggle up with that blanket and cocoa or hot tea. that is one of the best enjoyments in life...relaxing!

My idea has always been to go further North, there is some pretty vast country up there with no one around for miles. It would have to be a log cabing though, trees are abundant and I have spent alot of time figuring out how to put one together if need be but I would definitely need some help. I'm sure there are huntcamps up there that could be used if need be:>) I read a little online today about everything that is happening...first time in a while I have had the nerve to...and it is pretty frightening. I'm trying to convince myslef that it is just another recession and we have been through it before...who knows?

Morel, my mom just called me and told me that she saw on the news where they were giving holiday gift certificates for abortion clinics! If this isn't the end of days, as we know it, if this isn't the most evil time in our world, I don't know what is. I mean, even if one believed in abortion as a choice, this is just crass!

I'm both sickened and excited about the times in which we live right now. I'm sickened that the world, and America as a nation, has grown so.... well, there is no single word to describe what it has become other than "evil"~ in every sense of the word. I'm also excited to be living in the midst of times that will surely reveal some fulfillment of prophecy.

I found a verse that gave me some comfort, about waiting, not worrying and working with your hands so you will not want for anything and you can give help to others. I take that verse to mean to become self-sufficient and wait upon the Lord! I think we are on the right track! :)
