That picture of Blossom with her tongue up her nose reminds me of our first cow.....me and my sibs got off the schoolbus and ran out to the barn to meet Angie, half Holstein and half Angus, and we all exclaimed in delight and ran into the house to tell mom that she can lick up her own nose!!!! That was the most exciting thing for a bunch of kids, let me tell you! My brother was 11, imagine his supreme delight at this new knowledge about the bovine world!
Waht a wonderful a sight. I know you are tickled pink. And Shade is a great name. From what I can see of her coloring I bet she does look like a shadey spot out in the pasture.
A better shot of her whole body! She is so sweet and is no longer afraid of us....or anything else, for that matter! She's going to get those dogs in trouble if she doesn't stop slipping under the fence to go and ask them to play!
She is slowly but surely losing her winter coat and getting her slick summer dun color in. I brush her each evening and I get scads of that fuzzy, brown, soft winter fur off her. She loves the brushing and her skin really looks good and healthy under the winter coat. I think the vet was right.....she doesn't have mange, just poor nutrition and losing her winter coat.
You are correct, free....she is starting to gloss. I am mixing some raw eggs in her sweet feed ration to help with this and she seems to be filling out a little, just in the 2 1/2 weeks we have had her. I'll have her slicker than an egg-suckin' hound before the summer is over!
