Oh Bee that is terrible! I am sure there is a lot of red tape crap you will have to go thru to get new cards. :he

I hope you boy send you a letter quickly! It is so hard when they are gone, actually I really wouldn't know, only guessing. My 18 yr old is here, signed up for local community college...I think she plans to be around for a while.
Anyway, I hope you hear form him soon!

Me too. It was hard to let these fellas go and I know I will see them again but the house feels very funny and lonely.....no noise. No big bodies sprawled on the couch ( a plus, you are thinking and I used to think so too) and no laughter.

Feels weird and it will take a minute or two for me to get over these blues and get to crackin! I want to make a few changes before they come home and the youngest will be here in a month.

I want to repaint and decorate Eli's room. His room, this way when we moved here, I kid you not.....is baby poop yellow! Sort of a mustard color! Ick. I can't imagine actually going to a paint store and picking out this color! :sick The room screams for cool colors, as the lighting is not the greatest. Also hope to get permission from the landlord to pull up the moldy, ancient carpeting and paint the floor. Maybe cover with an area rug.

I want to repaint their bedsteads and obtain some bedside stands and paint them to match. I'm going to buy some roll blinds, cut them to fit inside the window frames and glue some pretty fabric to them and trim with an accent piece.

I am building myself a cupboard in the kitchen where the fridge used to be....there is a fitted cubby there that is wasted space. I am going to design a mini screen door as a door for the cupboard.

I am going to repaint my living room. I want the living room done before Christmas....can't stand another year of trying to decorate a room that is the color of a Barbie doll. Also plan to take down the window treatments in the living room and do the fabricized roll blinds inside the window frames. I want to paint the window frames and trim a contrasting color.

I want to obtain a cheap full-sized bed and put in Eli's room and make this into my sewing/guest room.

I want to invest in memory foam toppers on all beds. I've learned this is how you turn a cheapy mattress into a luxury one! ;)

The answer to an empty nest? The nesting instinct gone crazy! :p

Wow, Bee! You've planned out a lot of projects!!

:hugs for you, but you know, a month isn't that long...and I predict that when the youngest comes home, we'll be reading a post from you sorta reading like, "Youngest comes home tomorrow and I'm only half done with everything I wanted to have done!" ;)

Oh Bee, I DO know the "empty nest syndrom" Its harsh! I get people asking me all the time....aren't you glad they are all grown and moved out!? Inside I am screaming NO NO NO!! I want my babies back!! But I politely say, ... its ok, but I miss them. I miss them all coming in the door at 3:45, screaming at the top of thier lungs... " Mom, were home, whats for a snack? Can "so and so " come in?" I miss...bodies all over the living room, in the evening, watching TV together. I miss my boys coming in the kitchen while I am cooking asking jokeingly" What slop are ya cooking tonight"? and reaching in for a taste test..and me laughing and slapping thier hands. :/ OK, I have to stop, I miss my babies!
Redecorateing will be great therapy...but I can hear the boys when they get home...jeesh mom, all these years I lived with this color..and now that I am gone, you change it! When my empty nest syndrom kicks in...I get more animals! :p ( hence the sheep this year) ;)

I feel your pain Bee.

At least as far as the decorating goes! (I was happy to move out my kids - of course they are all still nearby except for one and I see them often.)

When we moved into our house the whole thing was olive green, burnt orange, harvest gold and light stealing brown. Even the bathroom ceiling was olive green! It was beyond belief that any human being would voluntarily paint any house to look like ours did.

Paint away your sadness little pal. New decor is good for the soul!

Good for you redecorating, Bee! I'm sure your landlord won't mind seeing already what you've done to the outside.

Quail's right, a month isn't that long.

Exactly how I feel now that my house is empty......like I should have enjoyed all the mayhem more when it was here. Its so quiet here this morning! :barnie

Well, when God closes a door, He opens a window and maybe this is His way of shouting "Get off yer buttocks and get busy!" I've been lazy for too long, waiting in a holding pattern for this day to happen.

Now its time to prepare for the next step....being a free agent and getting all my ducks in a row. I've always wanted a home that was very organized and pretty to look upon. My oldest son, Joel, who is still here for awhile is very good at keeping things organized and neat.

Aly, I'll see how much I can get accomplished before Jon shows up and then I will enlist his help with the rest!

On the list of things I can do this year:

1. Build storage shelves and bins in my outbuilding~then organize!

2. Put recycled windows in the sunny side of same building.

3. Tear down my cold frame and build a mini-greenhouse in its place using my recycled glass windows, shower doors, screen doors.

4. Organize and clean out my attic.

5. Repaint the floor of the porch, as well as the railings and posts.

6. Put rolling casters on my big ol' wood box.

7. Get in firewood.

8. Scrounge for and can up as many veggies and fruits that I can.

9. Of course, repaint some rooms in the house and set up an organized center for my sewing.

10. Get back into my soap, lotion, sugar and salt scrubs and lip balm making.

11. Get back into making my recycleable windchimes.

12. Get into drying flowers and making beautiful items from them.

13. Take a waterpainting and a basketweaving class.

14. And finally, concentrate on getting in shape, getting healthier, getting some weight off of my old frame~ very important to me.

When Eli gets completely out of training, Jonny will be also and we are planning on a family vacation~on a cruise! :)

I think I'll have enough to keep me busy this year, huh? ;)

 baby poop yellow and Barbie Doll skin. Oh my. Best thing I did for this house was paint. Lovely golden yellow and terra cotta colors. Makes the rooms feel alive, like firelight. Hope you find some lovely colors to energize you.
