Me too! I'm not usually into the whole computer thingy and communicating with complete strangers. I always felt that it was a poor substitute for real human contact.

BUT, since moving here and not really finding a true companion in all these years, finding this forum has been a Godsend! It's real nice to have intelligent folks with which to have a conversation about things that matter. Most of you have a fine sense of humor, which I really miss.....(haven't found one developed sense of humor in the four years I've been here! )

You'll probably be seeing a little less of me when the Bat comes, as she is fine company and we will be quite busy for awhile.

Son #1 juiced nine gallons of apples today. They are a little tart and I should have picked more varieties to blend in. Live and learn, so tomorrow I am picking some of the more bland tasting apples to see if it will smooth out the mix.

I am multi-tasking out the ying yang today and stopped to realize that I really, really, really miss my boy, Eli. His birthday was on Monday and it was our first apart. This whole letting go of yer children thingy stinks!

Can't wait to go to SC next week to see him for a few days..... Can't wait to hug his big, ol' sweet self and kiss his bristley, chubby cheeks!

Also can't wait to have the "family reunion" in court on next Tuesday, the 13th...how appropriate. The 13th!

Thanks, BB....it's good to hear news of the little brat! I miss him!

He is missing all the fun and poking of nests.....

Got some canning done today, as I was off work (not by choice). I now have 32 qts of apple cider and 13 qts of chicken soup broth/meat.

Tomorrow is more cider with different types of apples to get a sweeter flavor. I have finally found a purpose for all these red delicious.....I'm going to sauce them! I have to wait on that, though, as I am going to be busy until much later in the month.

My mother is bringing a copper kettle for apple butter when she comes, so this oughta be good. Anyone else make apple butter this way?

The Amish make some great apple butter that contains no sugar, only sweetened with apple juice....wonder how they do that? It's really good!
