We are lucky enough to not have lights out here....and I have many times just sat, and stared up at the heavens. What a mafnificant show! All those twinkling stars...just awe inspiring! I can lay out there for hours just looking, and I am sure never see them all.

Glad you reminded me to go look at the stars. I'll try and do it tonight, hopefully there won't be any clouds. It is so beautifull and peacefull here at the folks house in upstate NY.

Ahhh stars!!! They were visible all summer, but now they are hiding behind the clouds until the spring. I don't miss the sun (never will either!!) but I would love to see the moon and stars. I love the night sky. :/

Winter is my favorite time to star gaze, as you can see them so much better. It gets a little nippy, but I just take a down comforter out and snuggle down. On Nov. 16/17 we are supposed to get some meteor showers.....I hope it's clear out.

I never really got to see this wide panorama of stars until I moved to this place. From where I'm at, one has a good view of all compass points, as my land lies on a slight tilt, like a solar dish.

This is why I am changing my idea to name the farm Sweetwater Farm to Starlight Farm, as it seems I get my best ideas, my best communion with God and my best appreciation for this place when I am contemplating the stars.

I'm glad you got to see the stars, Farm. Can you not see them well from where you live? Light pollution? I would really hate that. :(

So...anyone decorating for Christmas yet? I can't wait to get it up and done, as I love the way the house looks during the holidays!

I like the new farm name. :)

Christmas decorations? Nope not yet. I said I wasn't decorating this year but I'm sure I will. I love the way it looks too, but I hate taking it all back down. :th

My mom said that she moved her artificial tree out into the yard to fill in a bare spot! She said this year it is just going to be a candle in the window...I like that idea.

I usually go subtle, simple but pretty. This year, I am having the family over to my house and my son is coming home, so it must be a little MORE, if you know what I mean.

I am going to drape everything that doesn't move with pine garlands and swags, and my theme color this year will be a certain shade of red. I have a thing about the different shades of red and find some shades garish or tacky. Last year is was more a wine red, which I love and makes me think of a Victorian era.

I am also putting up the BIG nativity this year that I scavenged out of the dumpster and will attempt to make it look vintage and soulful....I hope! :)

If your decorating skills are half as beautiful as your writing skills, I'm sure you will make that nativity look awesome!

What BBH said. I love the deeper reds, from wine to almost chocolate.
I so miss the star view I had when I lived out in the boonies. No lights, no nearby towns. The view was breathtaking. We still have stars here, because they turn off the streetlights after curfew(midnight teenagers curfew), but nothing could compare to that panorama.

Yep, the bright reds always make me think of tacky, don't know why. The reds I've chosen this year are almost a crushed velvet red, with a glitz. Sort of reminds me of the 50s and 60s...or even that I should follow the yellow brick road!
