I tried doing that with electric fencing this year, BBH, but it didn't go well. They walked right through the cross fencing most of the time but wouldn't go through the garden fencing, which was odd.

This winter I am using T post and fencing the orchard and garden once and for all. As time goes on I will add more fenced paddocks to implement more rotational grazing. I will also need extra paddocks when I get my own ram.

I would really, really like to invest in stock panels for most of the paddocks and may just try to buy a couple here and there all year so I can do this. They are so very versatile, stiff enough to move easily, strong and can be used with T post if needed. They store better and they can be used to make makeshift pens in a jiffy. I think everyone should have stock panels! :)

That is a good idea, I have a few panels laying around that I am going to use when I build a barn.

Are you drenching them b/c you are worried shaklees isn't working as well as you thought. (I only ask b/c I was going to buy some shaklees this week.)

My sheep won't come in from the rain, do you think too much rain is bad for them? My sheeple book is sorta worthless. :/

Might I add Bee that when your sheeples get big, they will become porkers on just grass. Mine only eat grass and they are F A T!!! I do occastionally give them treats like carrots and they also eat any apple that has fallen off the trees. They look like white elephants! I need to take a photo!

  :gig Oh, free! You slay me!

No, I don't think the Shaklee's is not working but I am curious to see if it is, how much difference the ACV drench can make in their growth rate and general health, etc.

They are very, very fat and sleek going into winter but I'm just wanting to see if all the claims about the ACV and garlic are true. I guess one could only really find out if they had a sick or poorly sheep who had a great recovery from using these things, huh?

That farmer had a ewe that I was dying to take home and doctor!
:( They called her Bones and she was horrible looking....and they said she was looking MUCH better than she had! :/ They said she had had two lambings of triplets that year and they had been worming her steadily but she was a rack of bones even yet.

AND they bred her back!!!! :( Their daughter is a vet...... :/

I so wanted to take her home and see if I could nurse her back to health using some homeopathic methods~just to prove to them that their all chemical regime may be a bit faulty.

These are nice folks but their animal husbandry leaves much to be desired. They don't cull effectively, they don't keep up on treating/doctoring their sheep(there were three limping with overgrown hooves) and they don't really have a good breeding program.

OH, if I only had the acreage and buildings these folks had, I could really turn out a great little flock of sheep over time. :fl

Were they trying to sell "Bones" ? I think they should have let her wait on the breeding at least. Maybe their wormer isn't working for them anymore. That happens.
Sounds like Bones could use some TLC from Superbee.

I almost offered to buy her then and there but I got the feeling, since she throws triplets, they wouldn't turn her loose. They were surprised she is even alive! :(

I know she would get better here! :rant Now, that would be a sheep to experiment upon with the ACV drenches, as they had already tried all the different types of wormers and meds.

They said they will be taking all spare lambs straight to market next year and not fool with them at all, so I told them to keep me in mind if they have a Dorper cross ram lamb to sell. They said they would.

If I had a Dorper cross ram lamb from a ewe that has triplets, I might really be able to breed some meaty, productive lambs into my small herd.

I'll breed St. Croix this next year but I'd like to have a Dorper for all the lambs going to market from then on.

I'm sure she would have been better off with you. She needs Mama Bee's common sense to get healthy and put some weight on. You want healthy critters- give them good foods and healthy stuff.

What are people thinking? Oh I remember now ....money...money...money...money.

Yet if they would skip a year and allow her to heal up she would probably produce more for them in the long run. :he
