I would suggest maybe Buffs or Swedish?

Best part about our buffs and Swedes? The females are always bossing and throwing the males around!

And isn't that the natural order of things? And you all know how I like to go towards a natural direction...... :p

Tell me more about the Buffs or Swedish, BB? Are they known for their down production? I'll do a little research but they sound lovely..... got any pics?

I know rectangle is not often a shape found in nature but it would be very different and the fish would have corners in which to hide. :hide

Our Pekins always seemed more patriarchal, lol.

Our Buffs are the size of the Pekins, large round, sweet and sassy things.
The Swedes (blues) are smaller but still a nice size, a bit more mellow and calm, very pretty. Both breeds have been laying well for us, but the swedes even more so.

Not sure about down, haven't butchered any yet. LOL

Yes! Can you believe it? And with these phones one can actually access their office, free of charge! New concepts are developing in vet care all the time, or so I hear! :)

Well that beats tin cans and string!
I'm not sure what makes you say this Sally.
My brother and I made one of those..

But never had string that was long enough, so we couldn't get far enough away from each other to make it NOT work.

You know all the strings you get lying around from feed bags and alfalfa bales? If we put all those together, we could get one dandy of a tin can phone set up. Hope you have good lungs, BB.

Went to the library this evening and came home with two huge bags of books~starting my learning curve for the winter reading month. Did you know that all months that have "R"s were for "reading"? :D

Anyway....got books on creating water features/ponds, dried flower arranging, farm stand sales, sheep, and, of course, You Can Farm by Salatin~again! :p

Any of you beeks recommend any beek books in particular? I want one with good, color pics of different comb/cell structure, follower boards and why they are necessary, what honey comb looks like it is appropriate for harvest, creating a nuc, etc.

Maybe a beekeeping for dummies?
