Gypsi, what do you do with all your honey? I am guessing you sell it. Sure wish someone here local sold honey because I sure do miss it...at my home it was easy to come by and not too expensive, but down here at Mom's the honey is pretty pricey and the closest honey is 20 mi. away. :(

You should start a honey thread and do a how-to pictorial...sure would be some on here who would love to see all that up close and see someone working their bees! :)

Went "poo-less" today and tried the ACV for the first time. So far I am impressed with how easy my hair was to comb out(I usually have to put a silicone serum on it because my hair is fine, thick and curly) and how soft it feels. I had expected it to feel squeaky because of the possible astringency of the acetic acid.

I also cleansed my face with olive oil today and will be monitoring the effects of that as well.

Sure would be nice to have the ACV in a gel form so one could use less to cover the entire hair without wasting it. Precious stuff, ACV...something that useful shouldn't be lost down the drain if it can be helped. Could be I'll devise a way to keep it for use in the chicken water after I use it on my hair...sort of lean over a small bucket in the shower while applying and save the runoff, ya know?

I've had vinegar in my eyes before - I used it years ago for conditioner - it was painful.

What do I do with my honey? First I have to get some. Our drought killed the forage and starved the bees last year. Mine lasted until the first week of October when they were robbed out by a hungry and numerous feral hive. So I hope to sell honey comb and honey, but it will be my first year to maybe succeed. It's still raining. Life is good.

That happened to me the when I got my first bees...complete and total drought. One minute they had three combs full of honey and the next time I checked they had been starving and had eaten all their own honey and swarmed. All in three weeks time from the last time I checked them.... :( My garden just shriveled and died, everything on the vine just stopped and died. Worst drought we've ever had here.

I'd like to try again one day as I studied up on beekeeping for three years before even attempting it...but I wasn't too discouraged, many an experienced beek lost some of their hives that year too and I only had the one.

I had made a top bar hive and I loved the design and the idea of it...I had made it out of a plastic barrel and all the combs were in a perfect half moon shape.

I think this is going to be a good year for bees, at least compared to last year.

I sure hope so! I love the idea of bees...a matriarchal society of hardworking women who only need the drones for one thing and can basically drive them off or kill them when they no longer need them for breeding(I can identify strongly)! :D :gig

The idea of bees, and the stack of 20 hives and medium supers in my dining room, are diverse threads. The idea doesn't involve labor. The bees do not do all the work....

Happy anniversary to your parents!

They got married young! My parents are slightly older, and still together. They'll be married 57 years this year.
