Thanks, guys! You always brighten my day!

Dace, you have no idea how many times I've wished all of us ladies lived on the same stretch of road....imagine how powerful a group we would be?

Bartering, sharing, growing, learning, fellowshipping.....Satan better thank the good Lord we don't live closer!!! :D Every morning, when our feet would hit the floor, he would exclaim, "OH, NO! They're up!"

I haven't posted in awhile, so I'll jot a little note as to what is going on here.

We finally got some good rains and my garden is perking up. The maters are doing well, as is the broccoli and corn but everything else has been stunted by the dry spring we have had. I'm hoping it starts to grow well.

Still don't have any baby sheeples but I'm hoping soon.

Still have my CX broilers and their stench is amazingly horrible...I've never smelled that smell in my coop before now and its not pleasant. Can't wait to have my normal flock again!

The new peeps are doing well with their foster mom and I only lost one...don't know why exactly but it looked smashed flat when I found it...don't know if mama accidently crushed it? These are awfully tiny chicks!

Getting family in to stay this weekend and have a cookout and just good fun. Its so great to have at least a little family to still be friends with. The rest of them are completely psycho and have dug themselves a hole that cannot be filled....so sad because we used to have a lot of fun together! :/

Things are looking up for the Bat in this situation and we hope to see things resolved soon in her favor....she deserves a break from all this madness. The police have taken over the case of the theft of her possessions and said that there could be jail time waiting for the ones who took them, as this is a felony act due to the worth of the possessions. I'm hoping to see an end to all of this soon~very tired of the drama.

Got a new kitten recently that has stolen our hearts...his name is Percy and he is the berries! We really love him! :love

The bees seem very calm and are working hard but don't seem to be doing it in MY yard.... :p I don't care...when the squash blossoms and sunflowers mature, they will be working here, I'm sure.

The boys all have jobs at the same place and are planning on moving out and into a place together....I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that home! :gig

The job is fine and I finally got full time here...long time coming on that score.

A good friend called me to tell me to come and pick all the cherries I wanted at her place! They also have my new ram lamb and say that he is the biggest lamb they had this year....he will be absolutely gorgeous!!! Can't wait until he arrives.... :fl

Found a guy to deliver a log truck of logs for firewood this next month...should be enough firewood to get me through two years for $500.

God is blessing me all around and I wake up thanking Him and go to sleep thanking Him....I'm hoping you are all well and happy too! :hugs

I am glad to hear that the Bat is getting some of those problems dealt with and over. Poor thing has had a LOT of drama to put up with. It will be good when things can settle down to a nice even keel.

When you consider that NORMAL chick losses are 2 to 3 percent (!) your biddies are doing an awesome job! I would bet that the lost chick was a "starve out"- a chick that just is not developed right to correctly use their food, and was not crushed by the biddy. Your have your chick rearing about down to a science if you ask me! :D

Do you really think so, Farm? :) I thank you for the compliment but I never really thought about it as a science....more like having faith that everything we are doing will work out and, if it doesn't, I will change up the methods! :p

I am glad for my mom also....she is spending some time with her sister right now and they are getting to go places and travel back and forth together...something they've never gotten to do before. She was never allowed to spend much time with her sisters...and never alone, that's for sure. She also wasn't allowed to cultivate friends or spend time with other women at all, unless Dad was along.

Now she is socializing like a trooper, driving the truck like she has been driving all her life and taking care of business. I'm rather proud of her! :)

Bee, I understand your "grow a row" concept. We've never grown a row to give away, but we've given away our surplus several times to other people.

Sometimes those people are family members who are having it rough. Sometimes' it's a friend who's garden didn't do as well as ours. Sometimes we tell people, "Go pick it if you want it" lol

Sometimes it's to the annoying older couple down the road, who no matter how annoying they are always appreciate fresh garden produce.

Last year, an elderly neighbor came and brush hogged our field using a walk behind brush hog! When I say elderly, I mean he's pushing 80!! He refused to accept payment, other than a glass of water. I asked him to allow me to give him a dozen fresh eggs as thanks. He said, "I can't take a dozen eggs. But, if you don't mind, I'll accept 6 eggs." LOL I told him to come back whenever he needed more, and as long as he brought the carton back his eggs were free.

He came back the next week for his 6 eggs, and the week after that he said, "You know, those eggs are so good, I actually DO need a dozen!" When I tried to give him the dozen free eggs, he insisted on paying for them. I tried to tell him, no no but he wouldn't hear of it.

Bee, that is wonderful about your mom's blossoming. She is free to become the woman she's been all along inside and that is just awesome!

I totally understand the frustration with folks' response to the grow a row. People in general don't understand any more what it means to be able to rely on each other. They get the concept of payback, but not forward. They've forgotten the golden rule. If I were having to choose between rent and lunch for my babies, I would be so grateful for someone to give me a bit of food. Therefore, when I learn of someone who has to make that choice, weeelllll. There really isn't a decision that has to be made, you just do it.

My friend's cornishx are still creepy... They do forage, he feeds them no more than the others get, but still... very creepy :p

Have fun with your family cookout!

We got to go to my sheeple's home place today, drive way up on the side of a mountain and pick cherries from the biggest cherry trees I've ever seen in my life! :th They were taller than my two story house..... :)

AND the view!!!!! :ep You could see for miles and miles....my beautiful blue mountains! :love

The last two days have been gloriously clear, no humidity, and just the right temp! The nights have been pretty cool~perfect sleeping weather.

The cherries were VERY sweet but we couldn't pick much...the trees were ginormous and the branches were hard to reach. I think we ate more than we took home! :D

We had a cherry cobbler for our cook out! :drool It was a perfect day and the food was all good. We even found a great yard sale and bought some good stuff.

It was just one of those days when you know that God is smiling at you and the smile is as wide as the sky....we were truly blessed to have been where we were, seen the things we saw, had the good conversations with wonderful people and tonight we are all cozy in the house laughing and talking up a storm.....one of those great days, ya know? :love

Thank you, Lord, for my weirdly wonderful life! :bow :love
