Isn't that the weirdest thing???? I KNOW we must be related or somethin'!! I was thinking of filling the big garden space with nothing but black oil sunflowers, wheat, oats, pumpkins and wildflowers and just letting it go wild. :D

After they are done, I will take down the fencing and that will be the end of the big garden. But I just wanted to see it full of something pretty just once...I have a feeling it will be another drought year and it will just die again...but still...wanted to try.

Isn't that funny that you and I would have that same idea? Weird!!!

Yup Bee, definately "sisters from another time" I just need something..."different" I mean...the veggies...always...the fruits..always...Now, on to something different. And, I just want some sort of pretty! I dont have flower beds. But I am thinking, this year...I want pretties!! Heck, I do all the work on them, why not....right? I am thinking I want a Zinnia patch..they are so pretty, tall, and...easy to care for. ;)

I planted thousands of zinnias last year and only a few came up....and anyone can grow zinnias! Again...the drought was devastating. This next year I will have less of my heart invested in it....if it dies, so what!

Well, BB...not much to report here except the mind-numbing, bitter, freezing winds and cold.

The sheep are really doing well with their self feeding station and I wish I had done this last year....what a breeze and a relief to not have that chore anymore. I gave them some stored apples this evening and they loved them....will give them a thawed out pumpkin tomorrow.

The chickens are starting to improve their lay and are gobbling this feed mix like crazy...may have to go to sprouting to slow them down!!! :p The coop is cozy and I am buying a heated dog dish for them tomorrow...tired of busting the ice already. Should have done this long ago but will do it now because I have lost interest in trying to "make do" right now.

Jake is now loving the puppies and all three are getting adequate exercise.....they don't seem to mind the cold and are out doing business as usual. Running at the speed of light is Jake's favorite thing.....it's good for him to have someone to play with. He is also teaching them about the boundaries, which is such a relief to me! It's a great idea to have an older dog teach the younger....Lucy taught Jake and now Jake will teach the new generation. Life goes on, doesn't it?

I don't believe I've ever seen anything grow at the rate of these pups....last week they were 3 times their size at 4 wks. This week they have quadrupled their size! They are simply beautiful and adorable little mutts and, though they have a long way to go with training, I already know they won't be too tough on basic obedience.

Dewley seems to be the most responsive to my voice and wants and also seems to be just a tad smarter....but don't tell Tuesday! :hide

I'll post pics of them again as soon as I can....they are so sweet and puppyish. Dewley just closes his eyes and sags when I massage his ears...you can almost hear him sigh and moan! He loves the mama attention.

I'm so very happy we found these pups and though I may live to regret taking them on, somehow I know they will eventually just fit into our lives. They are pretty, calm, quiet and as healthy as horses....everything I like in a dog! :love

Well I figure your having the same wintry weather we are having right now. Its like 8 degrees out. I gave the rabbits some froze lettuce from the cold frame they seemed to enjoy that. My chickens are freezing. I have plastic on the window and plenty of straw. Not real sure what to do about that. Im glad Jake has started to like the pups and its even better that he is teaching them. Could I borrow Jake to teach my Petey? That dog barked at the chicken I was chasing this morning and after I chew ed him over he now knows what shut up means. Have a good one BEE. Nice to hear from you. I was on the concerned side. You hadnt updated in a while.

BB, these pups seem to be ignoring the chickens, so they must be learning from Jake about that as well. Or else they have too much fun playing with each other to care about the chickens...who knows? I'm sure I will be training them about that some time or other.

Dace, if you could see one of these pups in person you would have a real hard time resisting them....I am almost impervious to puppy charm but The Force is strong in these two young Jedi's!! :p Just two huge, incredibly soft, hairy love buckets....black as a tar baby! I can't get over their fuzzy big topknots....just too cute for words!

The boys are just being boys....struggling to make it out on their own. The oldest is doing very well in a nursing program and holding down a job at Wally World. Seems really happy and starting to slowly show some maturity. Has a girlfriend tailormade for him and they have been dating for two years now.

The middle has been working construction and LOVES it! I doubt he will go on to vet school as he had planned...I'm hoping he will test at the local carpenter's union for an apprenticeship.

The youngest is now officially an MP with the Nat'l Guard and plans to take classes at the local college to pursue criminal justice. He also plans to continue his education in the military and will try to ship out to Explosive Ordinance Disposal training in six months. Yay. :/

Don't get me wrong...I'm glad he is doing anything with his life at this point, but a school to learn how to defuse bombs is not a mom's choice in education.....

He is dating a young lady who is also going to school to become a nurse.

Generally, life is just going on and everyone seems to be growing, learning and maybe, just maybe, learning some maturity and wisdom along the way.
