yay! what a relief!
FarmerDenise said:She is still very subdued. I keep checking her every 5 minutes and panic if I don't see her right away
I will have to give her thiamine shots for two more days and give her 3 ounces of milk 3 times a day and eventually build it back up. Flower sucks down 12 ounces in no time flat! At least Blossom is eating her alfalfa.
It looks more and more like it was Polio. I realized that her eyes look different now that she is back. We thought it was a genetic thing. Her eyes now look the same as Flower's - little slits. Before her pupils were more rounded. I will be doing some research on Polio after this scary event.
ETA: The bill came to $280.00 Ouch!!, but at least we had it and we still have Blossom. I can wait to get new eyeglasses til I save the money up again
FarmerDenise said:We let both girls out into the cut field this afternoon. Flower skip hopped for the first time, since Blossom got sick. Even Blossom wagged her tail. She stumbles and can't quite stand on three legs yet. She also seems to have trouble making her mouth parts work in order to eat. But she is obvoisly glad to be back home. She explored the whole yard as if to make sure everything was still there.
It was a nice moment, us standing in the field, the goats next to us the dog behind us, the chickens old ones and tiny ones scatching in the hay and our kitty coming up to rub against Flower and scampering off, chasing something we can't see. It's moments like these that make me super happy to live the life I do.
I just heard the song: "I think to my self, what a wonderfull world" how serendipitous
