ummm... Once I learn how to use the upload feature I will post pics - I have heard it's easy, but we'll see... I can mess anything up when it comes to technology.

We went fishing yesterday and had a blast. I was really just playing with my dog, we brought him along but the other dog had to stay home, she was just spayed - so she has to tak it easy for a while. Any way not very eventful. The dog, named Catfish, got himself hooked, I was tying a lure onto hubby's pole and turned my head for just a second and Catfish had it, he did not realize the thing would bite back - he shook it off though, I don't think he'll be doing that again.

So a little later I decided to throw a few casts, hubby had a worm rig on a pole that I picked up, cast over by some sticks, sticking out of the water, twiched it around a bit, got a bite, and set that hook. I reeled in a little 2 pound large mouth bass, on the first cast. Hubby was mad (he hadn't caught anything all evening), but was happy for me at the same time. I unhooked him, wished him well, and set him back in the lake to swim away. It was great - I threw a few more casts, but no more bites... It was such a beautiful evening to spend on the lake with my hubby on the eve of our wedding anniversary. :love

Got home pretty late, locked the chickens up and gave the garden a good soaking, after battling with the ants who decided to take up residence in the hose nossle :barnie . I think I will have to harvest some of the butternut squash that looks ready and a bunch of jalapenos, green beans and carrots. I look forward to that!! There is also a ton of weeding to do and there is some okra that will be ready by the end of this week, just in time for the red beans, rice and sausage!! Yum.

So I guess being able to exersice at home is self sufficient (even though I can't spell it). The dogs have made paths in the back yard that are perfect for a jogging path. So yesterday I mowed a person sized path and chopped down branches that were hanging down and viola - my own jogging track. I'm excited to start - I'm very out of shape, and can stand to lose a few punds too. It has been in the 90's and this week will get into the 100's, so I guess I will have to wake up early, when it's only in the 80's to jog. I hate waking up early, but I also hate being so out of shape, so somthings gotta give right.

So many goals, so little time...

I have so much stuff I want to do. I have tons of stuff I need to do, I just need to manage my time better.

The weeds in the garden are OUT OF CONTROL - It's the first garden here, so I should have expected it, I just put it off until the weekend and now they have taken over. :barnie

I need to get in shape - It has been hot here. I need to start waking up early to get a jog in before I go to work - and before the temps get too high. This week the temps at 7am are 80 or above.

I need to clean up the yard. We have stuff that gets accumulated in the front and back yards that NEEDS to be picked up, I'm tired of looking at it all. The tent that our nephews put up 3 weekends ago is still in the back yard. The trees I cut down need to be cleared out so that I can use the jogging path I mowed.

I need to clean the shop - things just got put anywhere - tools laying around - old dryer - fridge that doesn't run, trash, garden equipment etc. ORGANIZE!!!!!

I need to clean the house - I never did any spring cleaning and the dust and dog hair is out of control at my house. With all the dirt driveways near us the dust gets bad in the house and hubby has terrible allergies. I need to move everything and dust and dust and then vacuum and vacuum, then I need to start going through things and either have a yard sale or take them to good will.

I need to get goats

I need to start fencing in the front yard

I need to rest and relax!!!!

I feel your pain! I recently cleaned out all of the kid's toys and pulled out stuff to go to goodwill. Put everything in a tub and even put the tub in his car and gave it to my husband to drop off on his way home from work. He took the entire tub out of the car and put it on the front porch 3 weeks ago and now the kids keep pulling all the culled toys back out to play with them. Killing me! Two steps forward and three steps back!

We live on a gravel road too and get tons of dust....we also have a lab and the hair is crazy. I have to sweep 2 or 3 times a day and vacuum every few days to stay on top of it or I get "tumbleweeds" in the living room!

Good luck with everything!

Funny story!!

I love the tumbleweeds, well, I actually hate them, but I love that you call them that. I was lying on the couch the other day and looked behind the tv, yep, tumbleweeds. I sucked them up with the vacuum.

So, I'm really bad at keeping up with a journal. And I don't really ever post on other topics, not because I'm not interested, but because of my poor social skills. Oh well...

I've had hens since earlier in the year, but wanted to get a rooster, so I ordered a dozen male chicks, it was a hatchery special for varied heavy breed chicks. They are about 9 weeks old, and getting bigger every day. I think I will keep one of the buff orpingtons, and the rest will go to the freezer. I have a few BO hens, They seems to be good dual purpose birds - even though these are just hatchery quality. Well see how it goes.

They are living in the garden, fertilizing and eating the weeds and tilling. They are doing a great job considering how overgrown it got.

I also got three meat rabbits. 2 doe's and a buck. They are living in the garden as well to add their brown gold to my pitiful clay soil. They are great! They are not very tame, but they really are very laid back, friendly rabbits. I love them!

We have collected supplies to brew our own beer at home. We will be starting our first batch on Friday. It seems to be very simple, and will save some money! I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I had been planning on getting goats, but right now that is put on hold. I still really haven't decided what breed yet, so it remains on the to-do list.

Slowly but surely we are making our lives more simple. I have been much better at cooking real food. I still need to balance things a little better as I spend a ton at the grocery store every week, but we eat just about every meal with those groceries, I guess to make myself feel better I'll start keeping track of how much each meal costs. That way I can see if I'm being as efficient as possible with the groceries.

This past weekend I have lit a fire under my butt to excersice. I am out of shape - It is very important to be able to run from zombies or other uneartly creatures if need be. I would prefer to start now, when I can enjoy it, then start busting it when my life might depend on it.

In all seriousness, I have started with walk/jogging on our old treadmill in the house as it has been raining for a couple of days and my backyard jogging path is very soggy. the first day I did 25 minutes (warm up 5, walk/jog one minute intervals for 15, and cool down 5) the second day I felt like pushing my self so I did 5 min warm up 30 minute walk/jog (not quite 1 minute intervals more like 30 seconds jog 1 1/2 min walk) and 5 minute cool down, and then I did some light muscle stuff - just body weight things like squats and pushups and some core excercises. I slept well last night.

I'll be at it again tomorrow. It's funny I guess I'm not in as bad of shape as I thought, I'm not sore or anything - I guess I didn't do it right. :gig

Anyway, that whats been going on in my self sufficient journey.
