I went to the Norton site just to try a back door product update to see if maybe that would fix this block, but when I click product update it goes to that "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

My Husband is a computer geek- 'xcuse me he says "Siliconhead" is the right term. He likes Firefox best for the browser and PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus .

If you don't have the $40. 00 for Spyware Dr. , then go to downloads.com and download
AVG free, Adaware, and Spybot Search and Destroy. They are free and the 3 of them almost equals the Spyware Doctor program.

I noticed that DD's hubby a "computer geek" professional uses firefox on his laptop. I didn't have the problems with facebook on his laptop as I do on my computer.

every time I try and go to a spybot/malware/antivirus site, it either does the "internet explorere can not display page" or in the addy bar it quickly goes to all these different sites and it pops up all these "you have a virus, click here to scan" blah blah blah

Hubby said to just get everything off the computer and he's going to have to use the recovery disc and reload everything.

this sucks!!!!!!

Did you try installing Firefox? It might let you go to those sites.

Although I have a feeling it won't let you get to the Mozilla Firefox page, either. But if it does, install it and use Firefox to insall those free programs. I would have added Spybot but it had already been mentioned.

But for the record, Firefox isn't perfect, either. We have a couple of computers at work for public use that have Firefox and both became infected merely by visiting a malicious site. It was just a matter of time before malware writers started writing programs to attack it.
