where do I go in my computer to find a list of my "favorites"?

thanks to this site and it's sisters, I've got a ton of favs and hate to lose them
Under the File menu in IE, click on Import and Export, then use the Import/Export wizard to export your favorites to a file. When you get fixed up, you can then import it into Firefox.

Which is all I use now days. :)

It sounds like you may have to byte the bullet and buy a decent program off the shelf.

Is your system restore working? You might try to restore back to a date before you got the problem. WHen that's done, try going to some of the free sites you tried earlier. Sorry you're having problems - that's a bummer! :hit

yep, tried and it won't let us go back to any date. 2 days, 2 months... nope

it let me download firefox, but it still won't go to any antivirus site.

we're gonna just have to reload everything and put the Norton 2010 on before we do anything online.

do ya'll know if the virus will still be lurking even after the reload?

If you wipe the harddrive & reload the operating system, the virus will be gone.
I recommend downloading malwarebytes from a friend's computer on to a flash drive then putting it on your computer & running it. That way, you don't have to go through the internet.

Malwarebytes is a great program. It seems to catch stuff none of the others catch, including Norton Security.

But then, Ad-aware catches things Malwarebytes seems to miss (although not much), so it is a good idea to have several different programs for malware protection.

I have AVG, Spybot & Malwarebytes running on mine. Doesn't seem to slow the computer at all, which is my objection to Norton.
