Ok, I almost always have a snotty nose, I have post nasal drip, I cough every morning.

The other day my son had made french vanilla coffee, and had english muffins in the toaster oven. I smelled neither of these things.

I do not get headaches--very very infrequently, and if I do, I doubt they are sinus related. An ENT umpteen years ago said i had a devieated septum, butI was seeing hiim for an unrelated problem.--since at that time, my sinuses were not really bothering me , it was left at that.

I used to get sinus infections quite frequently though, but now, I just have plugged sinuses--pretty much all the time. last time I took antibiotics, it was for a sinus infection, probably 12 years ago.

Well, it is starting to get old. Way back when, I did use nasonex for a coupla months, but it never really did anything.

I have used the neti pot, and it used to work ok, but now, it just totally screws up my ears. And, it never, obvioulsy, fixed the problem. I'm looking to fix this permanently. And no, I haven't seen a doctor for this recently. I just decided since the other day, that this needs to stop. I want to smell coffee and english muffins toasting.

And another reason for this, is my dd is starting to have sinus problems.

I have done a bit of research on the internet, but was wondering if any of you know of anything that has successfully treated and /or cured sinus problems.

You have to rule out all the possible allergens.... until then you could spend most of your time barking up the wrong tree.

pollens
soy
gluten
dust mites
etc
etc
any chemicals you may be using

leave the dairy out for two weeks and see what happens.
If you start to get better then you know. If you don't move on to the next allergen possibility

Seriously though, dairy is one of the first suspects when it comes to chronic sinus issues.
Matters not how much you eat.
Raw dairy can be the answer, but not necessarily.
Going dairy free for a month or so is a very good test.

we have the sinus issues here also

we have the constant problems also but get the headaches with it

my neighbor had it all also and he went to the Dr. and had the sinus surgery (well, not really surgery I think, but he got cleaned out somehow) and he said he never felt better in his life. Recovery was longer than he expected cause leaning over he would feel lightheaded but honestly he said he would do it again for the relief he has now.

I am seriously thinking of going (and hubby also) to have a true sinus doctor check us out. I am tired with living with it also....it is a constant bother every single day.

go see a dr. and check your options with him --good luck to ya...

Any change when you moved to your current house? Or if there have been any basement-flooding-type events there? Household allergens or air quality can certainly cause chronic sinus problems.

Note also that it is entirely possible, and non-rare, to lose part of one's sense of smell *independant of* a sinus infection (though of course you may also have one at the same time). Hopefully that is not the case, but, a possibility.

Good luck,

Pat

Had a son with the same issues and he had tonsillectomy, addenoidectomy, sinus scraping and repair of deviated septum...all before the age of 4 yrs. Repeated sinus drainage, post-nasal drainage, upper respiratory infections.

We got allergy testing and only found him hypersensitive to red dyes and sugars~which sent him into a tailspin.

My mother was just getting into veganism at the time and had some great literature on fungus, which my pediatrician ignored completely....but my son continued to have problems.

We stopped all dairy, refined sugars, red dyes....started raw honey and gave olive leaf extract when he had a flair up.

That boy is now 18 years old and hasn't had an antibiotic for around 14 years. He craves white breads, sugars, pastas...anything that feeds his chronic yeast infection.

Yes, that's right.....yeast infection. When he eats too many of these things, he starts the whole clearing his throat, sniffing routine....then we regulate his diet again and put him on a round of olive leaf extract. In a couple of days, no more symptoms.

Everyone else in the family went dairy and sugar free then also....if he couldn't have it, we wouldn't eat it either. Guess what? My chronic sinus congestion and repeated upper respiratory infections were history too....all my life I had them until I stopped doing dairy. Dairy was the culprit and I simply LOVED milk...drank up to a gallon a day until we discovered this info.

Buttermilk seems to be okay and doesn't bother me but I am now lactose intolerant of other kinds of dairy products. Which is fine for me....no one needs dairy to get their daily calcium. Green leafy veggies works just fine and weight bearing exercise is even better.

If I were you, I would get some olive leaf extract, get added sugars and starches out of your diet, give up dairy entirely unless its tofu, make raw honey a daily intake item. At least try it for a month and see if the results warrant making a life change.....it certainly made a difference in our lives and the life of my boy.
