it feels great! it is softer than tile or concrete, harder (and more durable) than wood.

The bricks are Compressed Earth Bricks, and are 4" thick, same as any normal brick. Compressed earth blocks are cheaper than fired bricks, and you can even make them yourself. We have references on our site: http://www.velacreations.com/cebfloors.html

The cabinets are rustic style, made with pine, I believe. They have a sandstone/tile top.

This kitchen and floors are part of a complete house we built ourselves on an off-grid homestead.

I'm not quite sure why folks think this is an ad. We don't sell anything and never mention anything to buy or sell, just a simple instructional article.

Just beautiful!!! I love it! So they are sealed..and the "grout" doesn't work its way loose? Wow...I wish I had a ground floor kitchen...I dont think the weight would be good for my split level home. I sure do love it tho!! Thanks for shareing it!

no, the sand doesn't work loose, mainly because of the sealant. Traditionally, this would have been boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits, and then maybe waxed every few years. We use a modern concrete sealer.

Wow ! That was great work. Nice view out the window too.
The ones that thought it was an ad probably just didn't know you really since you haven't posted much here yet. Don't worry about it.

I think folks thought it might be an ad based on how professional you sound. I LOVE this look!!! I wonder if I could get the same results using a thinner brick, or if that would be more expensive... Also, does the sealer harden your sand? Does it do the same thing as grout?

I'm terribly sorry if my post offended you. I apologize. Your post looked to me like a typical commercial advertisement. The brick flooring looks great and really like the fact that the typical homeowner can DIY.
