Snap, I've been meaning to ask you, what is that flower in your avatar? Amaryllis?

You know. I really don't know! I took a "free" to me--trip and cruise to Alaska with my stepmom a couple of years ago and this phot was at Butchart Gardens in Vancouver, BC. Gotta take pups out brb.

I just watched the most incredible film and I am changed!

On the OWN network, every Sunday is a program called "Super Soul Sunday." Included in the program each week is a documentary film. This week it was "I Am" written and directed by Tom Shadyac.

Tom Shadyac is the director of such comedies as; "Ace Ventura", "Bruce Almighty", "The Nutty Professor" with Eddie Murphy and numerous other comedies. A few years ago, Tom had a bicycle accident that changed his life. He developed a condition called Post Concussion Syndrome, a very debilitating condition that left him depressed and with a severe sensitivity to light and sound. After many different treatments in an attempt to heal himself, the condition began to improve. After he recovered, he began to reevaluate his fabulous "Hollywood" life.

This is the story of that awakening and it will astound you! "I Am" asks the question; What is wrong with our world and what can we do about it? I highly recommend it!

Here is a link to an article on Oprah's site: http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Tom-Shadyac-From-Millionaire-to-Mobile-Home

Have a beautiful day and a wondrous 2012. All we need is Love! It may sound sappy, but I truly believe it and will be doing my best to live it!

I don't get the OWN since we down sized to no cable and had forgotten about her web site (duh)

I did watch the clips from the site and would love tro see the whole movie.

Sometimes in life it takes a great change for us to see the most important things.

We are all so very blessed!

Been thinking alot about my dad today... He passed in 2003 and never got to see our place here. I can't help but think how much he would love it here and how proud he would be of us and the things we have accomplished.

Love ya Dad!!

Been scouring TEG and every other gardening site I could find that had info on growing veggies in the desert. I found a lot of good info and even found a few tomato varieties that should do well here. I've decided that I'm just going to stick with a container garden this time around. I have 2 boxes that are about 2' x 5' and about 15 " deep. And scads of other smaller containers. Still researching exactly what I want to plant, but I still have a little time...

Spicy chicken curry over white rice tonight and I baked another yellow cake today! YUM!

JoelBC posted about Kijiji today, which I had never heard of, and I was amazed at all the folks right here in the Morongo Basin that have livestock and poultry for sale. Definitely going to be utilizing that site!

It's been a quiet, introspective couple of days for me. Called Mom and had a real good chat, reminisced about my dad and had a few really good laughs. I'm feeling re-energized and I can't wait to get something happening here!!

I think in your situation you should look into container gardening.......are you pondering more/different livestock?
