Here are some pics of the chicken yard. It is just temporary, but I am happy with it and the chickens love it!
I don't know if you can really see it in this pic, but one of these girl's butts is anything but fluffy! Do you think the feathers will ever grow back?
CL, the run looks great, but I have to say, the background is fantastic! Those little girls are very lucky, to get scenery like that to look at every day!
Yes! The mountains really are beautiful. We are surrounded on 3 sides by them. That's one of the reasons we have so much wind; it comes racing down from the North and right into this basin. As soon as I get a decent camera, y'all are gonna be sick of seeing desert pics!!
Pretty quiet around here... J is busy sewing and I have been cleaning house, doing laundry and oven-frying some chicken. I can't decide between mashed potatoes and gravy or thick-cut french fries to go with it... Made sugar cookies last night, but they were gobbled up. So I guess I'll just have to bake something else tonight!
J had committed to making a prom dress for a family friend's daughter before this larger job came along, so he is working on that right now. The girl, her mother and sister were here for an hour yesterday afternoon working out the pattern and for 3 hours last evening after they returned from shopping for the fabric. I am so glad I washed the dog yesterday! He was getting loved on like crazy by the girls. That doesn't happen too often to ol' Sole. It was rather refreshing to have some female energy in the house for a change! And they loved my cookies! I sent then home with 1/2 a dozen!
my mum had a couple girls looking like that before we expanded the run area, its plucking, we bought a tube of this stuff called Nu-Stock, it smells kinda like pine. kept the other girls off, helped protect from wind burn and the feathers did eventualy grow back Tractor supply carries it and you canbuy it on amazon.
I have been craving tiramisu, ever since WBF's 'cake incident'
How do you get the (crust? breading?) to stick on the chicken in the oven? I have a tough time keeping it on when I fry it, I can't imagine what mine would look like out of the oven
I have seen the Nu-stock in the store. Now I know what it's for. DH had me spray a cut on his head with vetericyn since it works great on the dogs. Men!
Did you go with french fries, Cheerio? Do you have a cutter? I just got mine from Amazon and it works fine but is part plastic and I can see it breaking eventually. Next one will be metal!
