Sounds like a perfect way to spend a birthday! Wish I could do that for mine, but they're calling for rain for it. :hit

Ah, CL, sorry to hear about the mealworms. :hugs That stinks!

I sure wish you lived closer, I would kidnap you when my birthday rolls around! I don't get any of that yummy homemade stuff for my birthday :( Hope your friend appreciates it!

Bummer on the meal worms! :hugs

We had gone to get a load of rabbit manure from the hardware store in Hardy last year. Couldn't find all the buckets so I got ingenious (if the letters in "genious" are icluded in something I write, be scared...very, very scared!) and decided we'd just use two, 50 pound feed bags to haul it home in. So we load the bags of bunny gold, which was full of earthworms and night crawlers into the trunk and proceed into Missouri to finish running errands. Got home late, left the bags in the trunk until the next day. Didn't get the bags out until later that afternoon and had managed to roast every last one of those worms. :hit

Glad I'm not the only "worm killer" around here! :p

Well, the weekend did not pan out as planned. A friend of J's and the girl who was coming out to celebrate her b-day has cancer and is not expected to make it more than another 10-12 days. This friends family has asked J to make all the outfits for the funeral. (Another big Samoan funeral) There are 25 outfits to make. So, instead of the fun weekend we had planned, J had to go down to Long Beach and take everyone's measurements and pick up the fabric and notions. It's sad for the family, but a welcome $500 infusion to our finances. So it's going to look like a sweatshop around here for the next week or so. He'll have to go back down for final fittings and probably for the funeral as well.

On a more positive note, I put up a temporary fence to create the much talked about chicken yard! You'd think these chickens had won the lottery!! They are running around like crazy! :weee It's so much fun to watch them! I tried putting the girl I have separated due to feather picking out there with them, but the others jumped all over her and would not leave her alone. I think I need to put her in with the others at night and see if they will be less relentless and accept her back in to the flock. Anyone have any experience doing this?

That is so sad CL :hugs

Please tell J I am so sorry to hear about his friend!

We had a hen that got pecked constantly, so we separated her out. Somebody, somewhere (could've been on here) said to wipe all the hens with vinegar, so they couldn't tell 'who' was 'who' - we did, and the rest of them left her alone! :hu

Thanks SSD! :hugs I'll tell him...

White vinegar or ACV? I guess it probably doesn't matter if it is just to mask scent... :idunno I checked BYC and could not find anything about this method, but I know that folks who show their birds rinse with vinegar after they shampoo them.

So sorry to hear about J's friend.

Let me know how the vinegar works. Sounds interesting.

And I didn't notice the title change either! Think it's much more appropriate!
