I am heading out for Saturday errands to go to Farmers Mkt and our local natural store................I sure hope they have them. Does anyone know how safe and how to prep it for chooks? We plan on using them and have sprouted alot of seed for them in the past so I might try to get my finicky girls to enjoy if possible.

I have for horses, its a better seed then flax to feed. It still has the fat and everything, but the Omega ratio is better then flax. I am going to start feeding it to my older thoroughbred, along with pumpkin seeds for arthritis :D

Where do you get them in a large enough supply for livestock? Are they fit for human consumption?

I was going to eat them myself, :p not give to the animals...in fact I didn't know they were fed to farm animals. Great to know, thanks!

Mine are in a sandwhich sized ziplock bag and were priced at $3.68. At that price, I was just going to sprinkle them on our food here and there.

I'm not on my laptop so I don't have the link, I believe if you google "chia seed for horses" it comes up with the (only?) company that sells it. If you can't find it ill grab it next time I'm on.

Oh, and a friend saw their booth at the Sacramentio equine affaire :D Do you get those in WA? The LA one is next month so I need to go.

Oh. Well then.

I admit I don't have a chia pet, but if I were to get one, it would be a hedgehog or something like that.

I use chia. Good stuff. Makes a terrific fresh jam.
