This is old news for a lot of us, but since there are so many new members and guests visiting, I thought it might be helpful for some.

It was around two years ago that I started my 'make it from scratch' frenzy. While most things have been acceptable substitutes for the purchased stuff, some have been close to outstanding! The daily shower spray falls into that category. The recipe below makes enough for a big 28 oz spray bottle:

1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
6 drops Dawn or any grease cutting dishwashing liquid
2 tsp cheap liquid dishwasher rinse aid (Jet Dry type stuff)
enough water to finish filling the bottle

This is a fantastic homemade spray-on daily shower cleaner. It effectively cuts oils, dirt and soap scum, dissolving it away with minimal effort. You can spray it on your liner, too. I put the Dawn in last so it doesn't suds up while I'm adding the water to the bottle. If you decide that you want to make a gallon of the stuff, don't add the peroxide until you put it in the spray bottle or it will eventually turn into just water.

If this is used faithfully after every shower, you'll only have to clean your shower once every 6 months or so. Notice I said 'faithfully'? Those who can't be bothered to use this should be made to clean the shower (slap, slap, slap). I also have a spray bottle filled with mild bleach water to spray the hem of my liner occasionally. Don't forget to label the bottles!

Wow, I'm going to have to give ;this a go. I normally keep a bottle of the bleach type spray in there. Not the best for my septic. :hide

Thanks.

i have four people in one shower. They wont spray after shower. DH is a grubbbbby guy when he gets off work. He leaves serious yuk in shower. Teen daughter leaves a ring from all the oils and mess she uses and 8 year old is just dirt. LOL.

So, I'm stuk with using a magic eraser on mine once a week. But, once we get a second bathroom, I will keep the recipe, sounds great.

Can you just spray with this instead of wiping down the walls? That would be great and DH will love you forever if this is the case.

You don't have to wipe down the walls at all. Just spray this on the walls and shower pan, that's it. The jet dry gives it the sheeting action to avoid spots, Dawn cuts the oils, rubbing alcohol makes it dry faster, peroxide helps to disinfect.

I never have mixed it a gallon at a time, so I don't really know how long you could store it without the peroxide breaking down, that's just what I remember reading when I first found the recipe. I just mix up the 28 oz spray bottle as I need it.

 My husband hated using the squeegie. He has his own bathroom now, so if he doesn't want to use the spray, then he gets to clean the shower. :D
