Neighbor and I went cruising the neighborhood for saw and firewood logs. I spotted an old grave site out in the open. My neighbor didn't know it was there, and he was born right here.

Grave stones pictured below say Elms died 1876 and 1874, we think by the barely legible markings that these two guys were twins, it looks like a carving of a head of cattle near the top of one of the grave atones. There were 3 more tall and narrow stones but no way to read them, they were too weathered.

see if you can make out what was carved into the stones.

There is a place here that buys in bulk at the produce auction and I can get well started plants for $2-3 for 4 or 6 plants.... that's barely covering the cost of the seeds-soil-containers...
I sure agree with costs, time, etc. Plants here are primarily at Big box stores who are selling to the in town, backyard, 10 plant people. I am not willing to pay $6. per plant! Plus limited variety but, usually nice, ready to transplant.

Only a couple greenhouse type locations and they're about 30 miles out, into farm land. Selections limited to more like 10 varieties each; Flowers 50 varieties...so. While far better prices, often they are very young plants and need more time before setting out. Still babysitting them as often only first set of true leaves. Its where I live. Few butchers, etc either.

Besides, I have a gazillion seeds!! Yep, I'll buy a few if I'm near the discount spot. 😁

Good Morning ALL! Working on my second cup of coffee (might have to make another 1/2 pot before the day is over) before I get to cleaning. It's a never ending job here with 5 dogs but if I didn't have my dogs I would be going crazy. Most people think I'm crazy seeing how I (well FH does too) treat the dogs like they are our kids. I mean HELLO THEY ARE A PART OF OUR FAMILY so why not treat them like that. Those same people prefer to get their dogs shots from a variety hardware/farm store and take them to a discounted rabies clinic but why not take them to a vet to make sure that they are healthy and get them their shots just like they did their kids when the kids was young. I just don't understand it!!!!!

We're paying about $150 a month just for meds for our elderly german shepherd. She's got a thyroid problem and a degenerative spinal disease. She sees the vet twice a year now as long as nothing changes much. Normal is once a year. I don't do shots well.

There can be some huge issues if you do your own rabies shots and your dog bites someone. States consider the animal unvaccinated.

I'm not saying they do their own rabies shot but they take them to fairgrounds or places that give the shots for $10/animal.

I can sort of understand if they truly don't have the money, but even at the worst for us when we were stuck in low rent housing in the worst part of Norfolk, I saved enough money for a vet visit and shots. Even when Fiery fell down the stairs and hurt her back we went. Vet cut us a discount and didn't even charge for the X-rays because they were so good at showing her very arthritic hip vs good one and he wanted to use them for teaching.

I do see fancy dressed people in line for the mobile clinic at the feed store a lot. We've never thought about that. Consistent vet Visits can catch many things.

I know of idiots who claimed to give their own rabies shots. Their dogs were also aggressive. Then they whined and complained it wasn't fair when they were sued for the cost of post exposure rabies series in addition to other med costs to the victim because these dumb- decided to try hiding the dogs elsewhere. Rural Oregon in the 90s being what it was, police were instructed to put both dogs down when found a month later.
