@flowerbug what "fake stuff" do you use? Yrs back there was something called Sanka -- but I think that was just instant coffee. I read toasted flaxseed was reasonably coffee tasting 🤷. Hey, I use the real stuff...strong and straight up. Its invigorating.🤣

Had coffee at get up. Outside work done, it's starting to sprinkle lightly, off and on. Guess I'll have a cuppa and make chicken salad with these 3 chicken breasts, cold and waiting. Then might cook a pot of " something" 🤔.

Way back in the day my grandmother used something called Postum...I think.

Postum

Beverage

Description

Postum is a powdered roasted grain beverage popular as a coffee substitute. The caffeine-free beverage was created by Post Cereal Company founder C. W. Post in 1895 and marketed as a healthier alternative to coffee. Post was a student of John Harvey Kellogg, who believed that caffeine was unhealthy. Wikipedia

Cafix is the jar i'm currently part way through, at the rate i'm drinking it i'm likely to have it here in 20 years.

another version i've had and liked was Dande Blend which is more expensive (i haven't even looked at the prices lately since i'm not shopping for anything).

Postum is also ok. :)

it's funny, i'm not really that picky about fake coffees nearly to the extent i am about the real stuff. :)

Dark already again. Day went by fast! At church this morning my neighbor said he wanted to help me run 50 Amp generator hook up, since farm babe and the lady's at church wanted to go to Aldi's.

He came to help just as I was putting the cover on the power inlet box. I said hope you don't mind, but I went ahead without you and I just finished. He said you work quick. I said the days go by quick, so I need to try and keep up. He laughed 🤣

Then I said, I know you understand.
There are days, I like to be alone with Christ my Lord. Then I can just tell Him about my trouble, all alone.

Mathew 14:23-27

We are going to pick up a couple new rolls of barbwire tommow, my neighbor found cheap, compared to what they are asking at the farm store. Blessed to have awesome neighbors ☝️

I hope you enjoyed your day 👍

Jesus is Lord and Christ 🙏❤️🇺🇸

Good Morning Everyone! I just got done catching up on the "news" from over the weekend. HAPPY MONDAY Y'All!!! Waiting on FH to get up, had my first cup of the day got his lunch packed, the puppy out to do his business plus he had breakfast and I'm about to take him out again so that way after FH leaves for work I can take a "nap", been up since 2:15AM and went to bed around 9:30pm.
On Saturday when I was shopping I had to run into WALMART and I noticed that a 36 count of eggs was $17 :duc🤬😡😤:hit:somad:mad:. I'm so glad that we get our eggs from a co-workers of FH for $4/doz and we normally get 4 dozen =$16 every 2 weeks. Yup, we go through A LOT of eggs but protein is very good for you. Yup, meat is high too!!!

I cannot recommend learning to cut up primals more. Can get meat cheaper at restaurant supply as a primal than in a store cut up but have to do your own cutting and wrapping for freezing. Only drawback is you do have to pay a good chunk of money at once.

We used to buy half a beef, but hubby didn't grow up eating from tongue to tail so he doesn't like many of the cuts. So I compromise by buying primals.

Hubby prefers strip steak so I buy short loin when it goes on sale and cut it myself. I vaccum seal for freezing. You can buy burger in 10 pound chubs and divide it up for freezing. Or you can get say a piece of chuck and grind your own. I even did that when we lived in an apartment and made good use of my tiny, upright 7 cu ft freezer.

An example is that chuck roll is on sale at $3.70/lb this week. I may get some and cut it up for stew meat or I could grind it for some very good burger. I prefer less fatty shoulder clod for canning stew meat.

Yes, I also vacuum seal for freezing also. We get the big family packs of meat from stores than I break them down into smaller portions. I buy a lot of fresh veggies and freeze them too after blanching and ice baths. I'm so looking forward to being able to have a small garden now that we have our house. I just have to buy seeds and a starter greenhouse plus pick a spot and get it ready for Spring which is hopefully right around the corner so that way I won't have to worry about buying any veggies from the stores and I can learn how to can. I mean my Great-Grandma used to do A LOT of canning but I don't ever remember watching her do it. I understand it's a process that can't be rushed but having 5 dogs (with three of them being 3 and younger) you get patience real quick.
