got the corn and green beans pulled up and some onions, pulled the wagon to the porch,, talked to DD#4 on the phone,,, it started raining, ,, raked up the garden bed , pulled up the fence posts that healed up the pea and green bean trellis up, raked some more----and it and noticed I didnt have my glasses?????????
hauled it all the vegetation down to the compost looked all through it, no glasses.
I have gone over everything and every step- looked even in the fridge and trash----DH looked, they are here somewhere, but I cant find them

After searching around locally for cabbage to ferment for kraut. Farmbabe ended up ording 40 lbs each green and red from AS. I've not fermented red cabbage for kraut before. But I suspect it shouldn't be any different than green cabbage 🤷‍♂️

It isnt , I do think it stays a bit cruncher and I have read red cabbage is even better for you than green

@CrealCritter if the water starts out bluish don't freak out, it just means the pH is alkaline and it should turn pink as the lactic acid ferment gets going (or you could use pH neutral or slightly acidic water - but i'd pretty much just add salt and let 'er rip :) ). and, well, you already probably know this so... :)

Wacky wednesday true story - part two

This very friendly gray and white tom cat showed up wednesday night from out of the dark. While I was sitting on the deck in the cool of the night, minding my own business. He took to me right away, rubbing my legs and jumped in my lap, started rubbing my chest with the top of his head. It was like he was my long lost friend or something. He's obviously pre loved and really likes to be petted. I have no idea where he came from, I asked my neighbors but not theirs. 🤷‍♂️ All (now 4) toms are getting along just fine.

I named him oscar, which is of scottish decent, and means "deer friend" amongst other meanings. I pray they help with moles/voles/mice and snakes. And yes of course, I'll care for them all the same.
