You got to see your family & enjoy a meal! 😊

I saw my fam -- just that, saw & spoke. DD invited me to eat but, I wasn't hungry at time and didn't go. No biggie. Cooked a ham here on Fri, took some to her then, some to DS. Quiet for everyone. I have no other relatives to meet up with.

We all had the entire week off.

Its Always something ,,,RIGHT

My hens have mites... What a pain in the neck! I need to do something quick due to a crammed next week and do not have time to babysit 24/7. Luckily no one is laying right now. I typically do a better job at watching out for these things but with DH and myself having a new health issue I have not done a good job. I did get the whole coop shop vac'ed out but never followed up with bug prevention. :th
It is suppose to be warmer a bit, Sun - Wed.
I have our DD and her family up from Portland for the day.
I am going to order this today- I am just going to order 2 boxes so I have extra on hand. @Hinotori so you used ? 3 drops per bird ??
I have 14 hens, should I get 4 boxes??

Only the Frontline brand for dogs is safe that I know. Dont know how the ingredients are on other brands. It's also a long egg withdrawal. Why I generally only use it on broodies now if they will have chicks soon. It's 1 drop per bantam and 2 for large fowl. One dispenser for big dogs should be enough or close to it to do all of them.

In summer you can wash birds with dish soap and kill most of the mites. Chickens don't mind the hair dryer. My silkies turn into it and start their preening.

Yes I did get the front line ordered.
Good to know how much you use.
For 10 yrs I have washed my hens with dawn dish soap, they love a bath.

It saved poor Duke. I don't know why they swarmed him that time. Dusting him with pyrethrin didn't deal with them. Bath got some but there were still so many. Frontline got them and he started feeling better in a couple days. I dosed all of them to be sure.

Every now and then, if I get a heavy infestation I'll just dose them all with frontline. Usually the occasional dose of ivermectin keeps them all good. The frontline is good on the broodies because there will be none to get on the chicks. I separate for a couple weeks until chicks are big enough for the steps. Even after, being under mom helps keep them good.

On a chicken -- Do you put drops skin on back of neck, like a dog? My hens don't get the pampered baths  maybe a single will if a problem. 😵‍💫

@CrealCritter did you guys have another home grown turkey this year? Assuming you still have them.....no pics in a long time 😔
