I’ve been preparing for the cold weather, nothing like what most of y'all get, but for Texas, the threat of snow and ice, galvanizes me into action. Weather reports keep changing, snow, ice, then no snow, ice. Then low temperatures at night with highs above freezing in daytime. Rain, no rain. I wish they would make up their minds!

Since bad weather prompts people to strip every single store of bread and milk, I bought 6 gallons, poured a little off the top and put in freezer. I have a bottle lamb that I’ll feed the next few weeks until weaning and I want to make sure I have milk for him!

So as it stands now, snow and ice-maybe, maybe not. Eh

I think the driveway is fine, but the wife is nervous about the snow. So mid morning, I think I will get the tractor out and play in snow.

Sign of getting old for me...all of my outdoor work stuff is in the garage...insulated coveralls, boots, gloves, flannel shirt. Last night, I brought them all in the house to warm up overnight.

Occasionally the goats need help -- not most of time. I'm always watching to be sure kids are nursing, doe has cleared out, etc. More so the FF. It's a personal thing for me that's carried over from yrs of horses foaling. Most of the goats are easy to handle, trained to milk, trim feet, etc. If they're "wild" they get gone😁

Like so many, gearing up for our areas unusual weather crap. We're already about 15* below average....add ice & snow, why not? It's animal prep to be sure we can stay inside comfortable that they are ok outside. 😍

I salted the walks last night before we went to bed. Still we had maybe about an 1/8 an inch of ice under about 1/2 an inch of sleet on the cement sidewalks. The back storm door that faces east, was froze shut this morning, I got it open of course.

I would explain the storm as a mix of light rain and sleet. Haven't seen any snow yet.

Windows looking out.

South and west facing windows are clear.

Tank is loving it.

i learned the other day that it was stupid of me to go out and shovel in the cold air without my ring-scarf (aka foreskin :) and what Mom calls a playskin :) ). yesterday (the day after) i had a sinus headache for most of the morning. it really does help me to have that thick layer on that heats up some of the air coming in and also gives it some moisture. and for the really cold days or high wind days i have a 2nd one which fits over the first.

and as usual, i have no snow goggles at all.
