Super Self-Sufficient
Votive lamps are olive oil with a wick.Olive oil lamp is safer. They tend to go out if knocked over. Easy to make with a cereal bowl, or even a tea cup. Pull a cottonball and twist into a thicker wick to lay against the side of bowl. Cleans off Corelle and even my ceramic Japanese tea cups fine when done. It's the basis that button lamps were made from except hotter burning oils shouldn't have wick against side so button lamp was solution.
You can float the wick through a cork.. punch a hole in the middle of the cork and push the wick through the hole...
Or... get a little bit of wire and twist it so it stretches from one side of the cup to the other side.. and the wick goes through the middle of the twisted wire.
