Getting rid of carpets is almost a requirement to live in a house for us :D. We put in hardwood with a nail gun, bought from a local guy who mills his own and tongue-and-grooves it right there. We got maple in varying widths- I love how it looks down, but I have to say, there is a lot less sorting and sifting and placing if you get all the same widths.

SO's office just got their carpets ripped up and they put down bamboo. It is very good looking and supposed to hold up well. We may consider that for the upstairs (which at the moment is plywood subflooring).

I was wondering when you were gonna pip up :) I so want new floors. But, we are currently sitting in the kitchen talking about this and now I want new cabinets too. And a new stove and fridge. *sigh* I think I just want a new house :D

So, here's a question specifically for WifeZilla but really anyone with duck experience can chime in. How do you keep them from tossing their food everywhere? I've tried several different feeder options and finally gave up and just put a small dish in there and let them go to town  Stupid ducks. they finally start using the rabbit waterer ( i believe they may be mentally slow :p ) and they still can't learn to not throw their food on their own backs like an elephant does water :he
Thanks!

You don't! :gig

Here is an old video showing Uno, my khaki buff mutt "drinking". Note how little water actually gets in to the duck.

Did you also notice the feed splattered all over the brooder wall :D

They will be outside in a few short weeks. You can handle it!

WZ, that was hysterical! He looks like more beak than duck at that age. (I know nothing about ducks except they wouldn't last long around here without a fort knox coop like the chickens have. But they are cute!)

Ok, so a couple things.
1. That was a damn funny video! I went and shot one of our ducklings eating, but its 108 megs! I'll have to do it at the library, or work or something.

2. Is anyone else having trouble navigating the site, or just me? I can get to specific threads if I have the post reminders in my email still, but I can't navigate past there? Whats up with that?

:weee :weee :weee :weee :woot :woot :weee :weee :weee :th

WE ARE GETTING A HARDWOOD FLOOR!!! Oh happy days!! :woot :woot :woot

We've been rearranging the living room, short story CJ hates how it's been the same for as long as his family has lived here, blah blah, must change it.
So, he went out and bought a new computer desk, one of those glass L corner models. Put it opposite corner from where the desk his dad built was at. This desk is actually pretty cool, and functional. Not pretty to look at considering it was made out of plywood(?) and scrap wood from the home depot :) So, we take the old one apart, I keep the supports because they are easily reusable and I have several projects in mind for them, and I take the piece that FIL had mounted a box type surge protector and the circular saw we've had for several days over to him. I tell him what we are doing and he's fine with it. Our home now, blah blah. He then tells me that sometime this summer he is planning on the three or four (if we count BIL) ripping out the carpet in the living room because it is bad in places and putting in some type of hardwood floor!! So I say Bamboo! And he says well I want it to be something that we can just click and lock and I say again BAMBOO!! I was all like we've been talking it over for a couple days (SO and I) and Bamboo is cost effective, durable, and sustainable :) He's like, ok, Bamboo it is! And we have to help with the cost, but we both have a third paycheck in July so that's more than OK!!! :woot :woot :woot Oh happy days!! all this excitement has me all sorts of :weee and :th :th

also, another question for Wifezilla - how did you make your Killing Cone out of scrim vinyl? We generally have pieces left over from printing jobs so I'm curious. And how did you hang it? I'm thinking I can just put a grommet in?

I cut 2 triangle outs of an vinyl banner making sure a grommet was in the middle of one side at the top and there was also one on the bottom on that same piece (it had grommets every 2 ft). Then I duck taped them together. I used some hooks and put them on the side of the shed.

Don't forget to save some for the backsplash :D

I love Bamboo flooring! You are so lucky! I am another who rips up carpets and replaces with wood. It makes a home feel and smell so much better!
