My D1 shaved HER head the day her husband left on his first deployment to the middle east. It shocked us all. Hubby the worst. He was napping on the sofa when she first walked by, but in his half asleep state he thought her bald head was only a bad dream.

NOT Southern, Ca. :)
That's my sons standard haircut. My clippers are broke so right now he has about an inch of hair on his head. He can't stand it.

It's a great summer cut.

Thank you all for those hearty words of "encouragment" :p :) It feels wierd, and I think I like it :D I changed my profile pic on FB to one of those and my mother thought I had put someone else's photo there  She said even if I had had my glasses on she's not sure she would have immediately recognized me. :frow

Went to the poultry swap yesterday morning. That was a load of :he :he :smack
There were people there with cages labeled fighting roosters, which to be honest I don't know whether they were trying to sell them as fighters or whether they were selling them because the roosters were causing problems, but either way it got me feeling very :smack and there was such a lack of decent quality anything there. I know, a poultry swap is probably where people take their culls, but still. Some guy had "Black Auslorps" there and I wanted to :smack and inform him that they are not, in fact, Black Auslorps but Black Australorps, and that his were nothing of the kind. Or if they were, they were pathetic examples. They were the right height, but the body weight was all wrong, as was the body type!! We have the one, and she resembles the APA more than those did, and she's from a hatchery!! Plus, the woman that was with him was all "These Auslorps will lay blue eggs" and I'm all :th :ep Mine won't! Because they don't! There's only one breed that does that (technically two but really) and they weren't it! I know, because they also looked absolutely nothing like EE's!! :smack

We had friends from cheyenne down yesterday and had lots of fun. When they got here I took the ducklings outside, put them in a tub of water, and let them splash and clean themselves while I got their brooder cleaned up. About that time, they started shivering so CJ took them in and semi dried them with a towel while I put their brooder back together :) We played Apples to Apples, and Zombie Flux, and Mad Gab (which I did not remember buying for them when they lived in Cheyenne several years ago, they reminded me :) )

Fun days! Oh, and I used the money that I had taken to the BS PS and went to home depot and bought the pvc for my duck house. So, even with the sand I want to put in the bottom, and after we put that glue stuff in place to keep it from coming apart, I don't think we are going to be using it as a poultry house at all. However, for $30.00 for the pvc, and what, another $30.00 for plastic covering (which I need to get yet) it's still a decent, cheap greenhouse :) So, now I need to go get cattle panels, or hog panels, whichever. :woot

OOh again! I had been emailing with a guy who has a CSA just down the road from us. He is planning on offering a couple working memberships this year. So, CJ and I went and met with him on his farm yesterday. He had the cutest blood hound, 6 months old and head at my waist, and a pug that was fat as a sausage :gig We are trying to decide if he's married or one of the family (so to speak) He seemed knowledgeable about the bloodhound, but was all over the pug (which somebody (CJ) said indicates ....) and it's a family farm, but he kept referring to the csa as "My garden" and the farm stuff as "his area" so not sure if "he" is a family member or something else :D either way, he was friendly, polite, answered questions, and is willing to let us put in two hours a week in the garden in exchange for a basket of produce each week! How freakin cool is that! :) Two hours work for a basket of goodies each week?!!? i was expecting to have to put in more work!! I'm all sorts of :weee :weee :weee :clap :bow :celebrate

Ok, i'm done now :) i'm going to go lookup that black bean cake receipe and figure out how to soak these lovely beans :)

Well Cool about the 2 hour a week CSA! You'd put much more work into your own garden for probably less variety. Are you doing your own too? You better start thinking about preserving your bounty!

Yes, we are also planting a garden again this year, and hoping it comes out better than the last one.

We are definitly going to be preserving. we found the canning the stuff last fall and we are planning on canning away, and freezing, and drying :)
