I have a 7 day rated cooler. Ilove it. Saves a fortune on ice.

I just need it to last for ten hours or so I'll make sure they have the freezer up and running by time we get there so it will be nice and cold

For just 10 hours? Depending on the "thickness" of the stuff in freezer, a cheap plastic tote and ice would get you through?

We do this when we defrost one of the freezers. Maybe I'm looking at this too simply?

lol, I'm sure it would We have one of the cheapies, and it works well for defrosting chicken carcasses and turkey carcasses. In fact, it works really well. Stick the bird (or birds) into it, fill with cold water, and let sit for two days. Completely thaws a 20 pound turkey in that time I will probably just get a second cheapy, but the other is so shiny..... pretty...... must have new toy..... *sigh* somedays I just need to myself to not do some things Bad FarmFresh! Leading me down the road of temptation! Shame on you! (totally not my fault at all! )

Ok, here is what Alaskans do to bring meat and fish to friends and family in the lower 48 on a flight. Even in the middle of summer.
Wrap the frozen article in manyl separate layers of newspaper. Then add a couple layers of tin foil.

Aight, not counting today, but counting the day we leave, we move in 10 days!!! Need to get my rear in gear!

So far today I've:
Unloaded and loaded the dishwasher
Deboned the second crock broth, and put it in the freezer
Went to the grocery store and got a large jug of ACV
Pulled three carcasses out of the freezer
- two of them are small so once they thaw I can put them in one pot

I still need to :
Go through the drawer from the Island and figure out what is garbage and what isn't
Sweep the kitchen floor, it's disgusting
Make dinner
Empty dryer and put away clothes
Wash out the cooler with the ACV so it stops smelling
Put the carcasses into said cleaned cooler
Pack the canning jars I washed last night

Nine days to go!

Got three carcasses in two crocks and this time I have vinegar in the crocks

Got the rest of the dishes not in current use packed. Got SO to go through the holiday stuff and sort it for donation or keep, and boxed away

Tomorrow we go to the inlaws storage shed to move the washer and dryer to the front of the unit for easy loading on the 10th. Also, we've been given carte blanche to "shop" our way through the unit Afternoon will be spent dismantling the coop and duck run areas

Sounds like you have it under control. I wish you guys a safe and easy move. NO STRESS, well I imagine thats probably impossible, but I do hope it goes smoothly for yall.

*sigh* no stress. Well, in that case, can I ship you SO for the next ten days or so? That would make everything so much easier! He finally saw the wisdom in packing all but one set of dishes. If I ask him to help because I know there's stuff he wants to go through he will moan and groan and do everything to make me feel like an ass about asking him for help. So, I finally put my foot down yesterday. He now gets told what to do, not asked, and no matter how he kicks a fuss it gets done And then we had a discussion today about how much sugar to put in the sweet tea. I finally told him I wasn't compromising on it and that if he kept complaining about it I would dump all the sugar out and then he wouldn't have any sugar in his tea period. He saw the wisdom of agreeing to the 2/3 cup of sugar in the gallon of tea instead of the full cup (at one point he called out 1 1/2 cups as a negotiation tactic!) Normally the relationship isn't this much of a "parent dealing with a child" thing, but he's really resisting this move as much as he is looking forward to it. He just wants to magically be there. Not helping with anything

Ok, I'm done ranting. We are getting ready to go to Chili's for dinner. A couple of my old co-workers decided they wanted to take us out for one last dinner. We had them over at our place on New Years day for food and games, and this is their way of saying thanks
