I view it different.

I shop stores where there is not that brand available.

Dollar General here has diet pepsi. Family dollar stores here carry coke products. I shop both. Both are in business and doing fine.

If Costco lost all the coke co. products it would be bad of course, along with bad for coke co. It won't happen.

Until it does, this guessing is useless I guess..LOL

cable to me is not food.
food is a must thru this world.
So I kinda don't put them on the same level at all.
if we can call "alot" of coke co. products "food"

In Mississippi, restuarants cannot carry both pepsi & coke products. I don't see them losing much business one way or another. The smoking ban caused more damage to the industry. Many people will compromise and drink 7-up instead of Sprite, or Mr Pibb instead of Dr P.

I see it the same way as grocery stores. One store, that is on my way home has great deals on meat & good quality. I purchase my turkeys there, as they aren't injected with a "flavor enhancer". But for the majority of my shopping, I go to another grocery across town, as they have a much larger selection of veggies & fruits.

People will still go to Costco for the stuff they normally buy, they'll just stop at another place to run in and grab their coke that they can't live without, or switch sodas if they are Costco loyal.

Now on a more serious note.

I think drinking a soda with natural sugar or even STEVIA (like they do in Japan) would be MUCH better for us all. (If we continue to DRINK soda that is). This is just another hidden agenda with those big SEED and CHEMICAL companies (you know who). They are lobbying for the high fructose corn syrup, so that they can sell MORE of their NASTY corn to the un-suspecting rabble! :rant

Fake sweetners are also dangerous. How many of them have been recalled since people have been making them? Stevia has not been approved for use in soda in this country yet and has DEFINITELY been given the slow track for approval, but has been in use in Japan for years now.

Natural sugar from BEETS could be easily and cheaply grown in this country, but I don't think there is much GMO patenting :tongue in the sugar beet as of yet. HMMM. :somad

You all should watch a little documentary called "King Corn". It will open your eyes to the FACT that corn in this country is really a government crop. If the farmers received NO subsidy from the government they would make NO profits with business as usual. So why is the GOVERNMENT paying farmers to raise corn for them? And WHY is it SO VERY important that we all consume SO MUCH high fructose corn syrup?

I have a friend that is allergic to the stuff and it is AMAZING how many different items contain high fructose corn syrup.

ok I feel better now. :/
Yup, isn't that the truth?! I've often wondered why people haven't grown their own legs and tried something different to grow. Even when settlers first came here, why use a random crop (corn)? Why not use a valuable natural resource, like cattail? You can make I believe it's four times as much flour from an acre of cattail as you can from corn, plus all of the numerous by-products (some can be made with corn as well though). Which reminds me, I have to set up my calendar to remind myself to get out there and harvest cattail this spring...

It's an amazing plant! I plan on using a lot of wild resources now that they've become available to me. I've always wanted to try cattail, but always seemed to miss the harvest for pollen.
