Thank You Sumi wow what awesome furniture. You really know how to get a guy to stare :)

Do you know if this chair comes apart? It almost looks like the orginal folding lawn chair. And has given me some ideas to play around with.

You're welcome! I wish I could get closer to that chair. It was behind a table there with instructions to NOT TOUCH any of it, so I had to do what I could with this single photo. It really is an interesting design, isn't it? I'm planning to visit that castle again in future as I absolutely love it and I'll see if I can sneak in closer to it next time and get more detailed pics for you. I just really wanted to show you this today :)

It really is very interesting... I'm really curious about these two joints. What would be cool if a guy could make those lap joints with a pegged removable tendon where you could remove the tendon and fold the two halfs together for easy carrying. Then slide the tendon back in to secure the two sides and lock it in place with a wedge. Portable wooden lawn chair :) you post some very interesting peices much appreciated. Thanks again

You're welcome :) Next time I got there I'll see about getting you some better pics of especially those joints. I think what I'll do is talk to one of the staff and ask if I can get closer for pics, maybe see the underside of the chair and explain why I'm wanting it. The Irish are so nice, they'll probably be only too happy to help me.

I've seen those "X" type chairs before that folded at the X.

The convertible crib/toddler/fullsize bed i made my grand daughter is finally done! It only took 4 years -:lol here's why... :)

First it's a crib with adjustable height mattress and spring.

Then it becomes a toddler bed

Pretty cool, if I do so myself... it's made of hard (sugar) maple and black walnut and build to last several generations (pinned and glued mortis and tendon joinery). My hope is my granddaughter passes it on to her first child whenever he/she is born.
