I've been trying to figure out how I'm going to spend my increase in my income from the proposed tax break. After all, spending, not saving, is what we are supposed to do. It's the only way to help the economy.

I found out what I'm going to spend it on; the increase in my electrical bill that is going to fund energy programs.

Give with one hand and take away with the other.

They really are cute. I just have to keep reminding myself, especially when they are being onery. Of course, sometimes that's when they are the cutest. Abigail has taken to closing her eyes during prayers. Hilarious. She squints them shut real tight, then will open them again, they shut them tight again. The first time Carl saw this, he started cracking up, in the middle of a prayer. Yeah, so much for calm bedtime routines. But I love them anyway.

Just thinking about some posts on another thread.

Yes, our country is in a mess but to blame it on the last president just doesn't pass the common sense test. Most things like this don't happen overnight although the hardcore of any political persuasion would have you believe otherwise.

Having the president in control of congress is a bad thing. The last time I checked we had three branches of government which is to provide for checks and balances. Having the legislative branch in cahoots with the executive branch leaves things open for abuse. Add in the judicial branch and look out freedom.

You can design a poll to support anything you want even if the majority are against it. It is all in the wording and the presentation.

83.4 % of all statistics are made up.

But he was the president for eight years. So I would assume some of the problems would be his fault. But I guess he doesn't control the banks, so maybe he isn't as much to blame as others would have us think.

I saw that Obama was cutting funding to Yucca Mountain. Not excited for that one. Yucca Mountain was supposed to take Idaho's spent nuclear fuel by 2035. Guess we'll have to find somewhere else to put it. I was hoping Obama would be pro-nuclear fuel, but I guess he doesn't care as much as I hoped he did.

The financial mess has been more than 8 years in the making. Everyone wants to blame the president when it is congress that makes the laws. The president can set policy and use the power of persuasion (to include veto) but congress doesn't have to obey him.
