Oh no. I left my bear spray in the truck today. Good thing I didn't see any bears.

There are a lot of private residences in the area where we are working. They don't seem to worry too much about bears, lots of trash cans out today for trash pickup just sitting at the side of the road.
They are probably just waiting for some fresh meat (who left the bear spray in the truck) to stroll through.

well in reality they don't want to come across you really either..LOL

I know in Alaska those garbage cans are a major problem. those living on the edge of bear country sure have to batten'down the hatches on cans. it is just an attractant.

If the cans you saw are secured like fort knox, then you know you are in a probelm area. :)

I've been in bear country before but they (government employees) take it seriously around here. You can get a ticket if you are camping and don't have your food secured properly. There are grizzly and black bears in the area.

The trash cans were just sitting at the side of the road without a care.

Watching the PBS special on the national parks. It was done by Ken Burns. Very good.

I'm DVR'n the whole series. It repeats about 1am each night. It will make for some good TV time this winter.

I've caught some of it and it's very informative, stuff you can't find in a history book.

Back home for a few days then off to Northern CA. Today is a rainy day so I'm not getting much of anything done.

Looks like a bumper crop of black walnuts. Free for the taking, you have to come get them though, I'm not delivering or shipping.

Well, since I can't make it up to Southern Illinois, I'll have to buy the walnuts for my Coconut Black Walnut Pound Cake that I make at Christmas. :plbb :D

Getting a monster crop of anything stinks. You have to leave it on the ground, harvest what you want, hope others might use some---too much of anything is not good. (well, most things)

A big box of walnuts would cost alot of money to ship..LOL
