I don't have this exact problem, but one thing I did when my daughter had it was use a flea comb...the tines are so tiny and close together that it really got rid of a LOT of flakes. Then we worked on the underlying problem.

And just FYI, when I was going through chemo, I STILL had to deal with scalp issues, even though I had no hair. Now that's sad!

If you decide you really NEED a shampoo, make one!

I grate up a couple of bars of 100% olive oil Castile soap add water and allow it to soften up a lot then heat it with enough water to make a nice thick gel.

I have been using that mix for about a year now when I REALLY need to shampoo. It is VERY gentle and not drying at all, in my experience, yet it does get my hair clean on those really oily days. ;)
