one of my stupid freezers screwed up

it was the top portion of one of my fridges I have outside.

Lost a few great things....some I am in doubt about....some were ok like the big frozen roasts. crap.....I hadn't been in it for about 4 days or so

just ticks me off big time

going to hit the store and buy me a small chest freezer for inside the house in the mudroom.....been meaning to do this darn it and should have by now.....well now I will lol

going to put my frozen in that and unplug those 2 refrigs in the garage for now

That is frustrating. If you were in Ohio, you wouldn't have to worry about it since we are in the deep freeze here. :D

you know I am getting tired of stocking so much in freezers even though I love it lol

I think I am going to stock less in fridge and more in the pantry

sometimes ya just can't rely on that stupid freezer ya know...always something happens.

I bought all the canning supplies but haven't had time to can yet. I think that will be on next year's thing to learn. I also don't want to totally rely on the freezer since we don't know where electric prices will go. I suppose I will have to learn how to dehydrate too. We have an upright freezer, a chest freezer and the freezer with our refrigerator and they are all full. Might have to think about keeping more on the hoof and less in the freezer too.

Most new freezers have an alarm on them now. One of those square 9 volt batteries for back up so they beep if the power gets cut or the temp is out of the range you set. Mine has alerted me once, we turned a breaker off to do some electrical work and heard a beeping. I would not have thought that plug was connected to that circuit, if we had not finished the work and left the circuit off we might have lost lots! Easy to run an extension cord to the freezer if you know it's needed.

However I'd suggest just replacing the battery every few years. We left ours till it ran out and it choose to tell us about the need at 2 am of course, that would never happen at 2 pm...

I just dry almost everything. I do have a freezer, but I hate when power goes and everything thaws and some gets ruined. It truly stinks.

We have 3 full size freezers plus the one in our fridge, and every one of them is on a circuit protected by the stand-by generator. I think the oldest freezer is about 5 years old.
I would cry like a little girl if we lost a freezer full of food........
