We hit 93 here yesterday and that's no April Fools! :th Supposed to be in the 90's again today and I dread what this summer has in store for us.

Didn't get much accomplished as far as seed planting yesterday but got some Nasturtium, 4 O' Clock, Wisteria and Lupine seeds soaking in water for sowing on Tuesday.

Ended up burning off more stumps in the orchard and only have 1 burn left to deal with in this area before I move on to the next orchard expansion area on the west side of the existing garden. The wind wasn't bad and doc had IM'ed me early in the afternoon about what to do for dinner. We'd just hit 93 and I replied "ice cream...it's hot". We've got a frozen Hawiian Pizza and are wanting to try cooking it over the open fire and were going to try it. Doc suggested bringing home Italian Sausage for sandwhiches in case of a major pizza fail and I agreed. By the time he got home, it was after dark and we did the sausages instead but will be trying the campfire pizza during his week off.

Going for our civilized visit to mom's later today and hope to bring one of the dehydrators home to get started on drying herbs. :fl

Sat out by the fire after dinner and got to watch the first lightning bugs of the season...it was awesome!

I loved chasing lightning bugs as a child. They are probably faster now! I look forward to hearing how your pizza turns out!

CL,

Swagbucks' Froobie deals killed me yesterday...they had a pair of Vivitar video recording binoculars for $40.00 (usually $100.00+), short paycheck after doc's week off so couldn't get them. Been wanting a video camera for years!!!
I always seem to miss those killer deals!! It wouldn't have mattered in this case, cuz I didn't have the money either!! :/

And I am sooooooo envious of all that green!!!

Tried a campfire (had a hibachi grill) pizza twice before. It burns on the bottom too easy.
Letting it thaw well first and starting with a cold iron skillet worked better, but . . . :/ If you find a good way- post it please.

We are about to get a good storm tonight. Some of it will probably work it's way up there later tonight or early tomorrow.

I'll keep ya's posted on how the camp fire pizza goes. :fl

Good visit at Mom's yesterday. We suprised her and showed up early so we could get tin put up on the trees that she has her bluebird boxes on (to keep her cats from them and hopefully the snakes, too).

We did another seed/plant inventory for this years garden and we think we're finished with that now. She asked us about going to the Spring Planting Festival at Baker's on the first weekend of May so got our :fl for that. Dad will be the hardest sell so we got doc to bring it up to him. ;) If we go, I'll be sure and take tons of pix!

Thanks to the stores selling individual veggie plants, I became the official seed starter for our gardens. :celebrate Been trying to convince the family since we've been out here that it's cheaper...third year is the charm! ;) Mom was sold pretty much right off the bat but my BIL used the "we can by bigger plants, get fruit sooner" arguement. He lost the arguement last year when my smaller/younger plants out-produced his store-bought.

Lost the seeds in two mini greenhouses (all the peppers, 3 out of 4 tomato varieties, chard and New Zealand Spinach) to something that got into them when I had the domes off as the soil was too wet. :somad Made an order at Bakers to replace what I could and added a few. Here's the list:

Black Krim tomato
Arkansas Traveler tomato
Cherokee Purple tomato
Pepperoncini
California Wonder pepper
Ozark Giant pepper
Red Belgian pepper
New Zealand spinach
Japanese Pickling eggplant
Chamomile
Caraway

Left Bub at home yesterday as my sisters' dog is in heat and there has been lots of "doggie drama" over it. Since we didn't have him taking up the back seat, I brought home one of the dehydrators to dry oregano, rosemary and lemon balm and mom gave us the little kid swimming pool that she had. She'd bought it for her dogs to use to keep cool but they laughed at her since they've got that huge pond. I think Bub will enjoy it and if he doesn't then I will! ;)

Only 78 right now and I'm enjoying it and it's supposed to be even cooler over the next couple of days. :fl We have rain possibilities, too....bring it!!!

Well, gonna get off of here and take advantage of the nice, cool weather and get prepped for some seed-starting madness. :D

I have something in my green house that's bit the top off of some of my tomatoes. Plus, I have some stupid whistle pigs that keep tunneling thru. So far, 2 of them have gone over the rainbow bridge, but I know I have at least 1 more. :somad Last year, I never got a garden in because of them, and the year B4, I lost a ton of plants to them. Never had them B4.

I am about to die of Italian food cravings...got oregano drying in the dehydrator right now!

Got lots of little things accomplished today! :D

*Removed the cage and straw from our little fig tree

*Rearranged seedling gh's

*Caged in the berry bushes, some potted herbs, sunchokes and fruit tree seeded pots to keep the cluckers out of them

*Harvested some oregano, several more days of doing so, to go, weather permitting (secretly hoping we get some rain though)

*Added some posts to existing flower/herb beds to keep critters out or atleast slow them down

*Sprinkled red pepper flakes on and around plants that something keeps "pruning" for me (this should almost guarantee rain)

*Got the puppy pool in place

The last one was hilarious. Before I got it put where I wanted it and added water, I couldn't keep Bub out of it. Got the spot some what leveled, put it in place and added a bit of water and Boy-O decided it was the bestest water bowl in the world! I figured that maybe if I got in that he'd jump in too. Nope! He gave me a look that read "what in the world made you decide that your feet will make that water taste better!". :gig So I try coaxin him in with me and he proceeds to jump over the pool, continuously. :gig Oh well, I had fun!

I was going to dump the cell-packs with the seeds that either didn't do anything or something got but decided to transplant flower and herb seedlings into them instead. Just in case those seeds are still in there and decide to do something. :hu

It would have to be a HUGE waterglass, he's a big boy! Here's a pic of the Melon Town Mall in Cave City.

Well, I've pretty much spent the last couple days watching the rain pass us by but we finally got a bit yesterday. Don't feel like I accomplished much but did get the entire oregano patch trimmed back and dried. It still smells like an Italian restaurant in here!

Spent the rest of the time repotting up some of my veggie and herb seedlings, still have a long way to go but that's a good thing! ;)

Finally got our humanure compost pile started...just in time for it to be harder for doc to bring home free sawdust from work. My timing ROCKS! :he Am thinking about trying to use our campost tumbler with this but still researching on it.

Got my seeds from Baker's Creek so I'll be resowing those things that the varmit/s got and adding a few to the mix.

I'm working on uploading some pix from the past couple of days and will post them this evening.

Well, I need to get off of here and either get seeds sown, repot seedling, plant some berries or dry some mint...

Hope everyone's having a good day! :hugs
