How do you cook the Brussels sprouts? I never liked them until a few years ago. I like them charred with a vinegarette dressing.
Pretty much the same as yours. Roasted. Toss with just enough avocado oil to so some salt sticks. How do you cook the Brussels sprouts? I never liked them until a few years ago. I like them charred with a vinegarette dressing.
I char them in an iron skillet. Burn those babies!
Sounds faster. My oven is very slow to heat. I'll try it this way. Thanks!I char them in an iron skillet. Burn those babies!
Get them charred, the add a little water, cover until tender. Done! And fast too.Sounds faster. My oven is very slow to heat. I'll try it this way. Thanks!
Did you ever consider using shims under the front of the bookshelves or cabinets or anything to get them to "lean back" towards the wall and actually makes them less likely to want to "fall forward" ????? I have a house that was built in 1920 +/-..... there is not a level floor in any room... I use shims alot to get the cabinets to angle back towards the wall at the top since they were 1 to 3 inches away at the top when flush against the bottom. I use a level also, but it makes them so much sturdier feeling and nothing wants to "fall out" either... I bought a pkg at Lowe's when I first moved here... costs a couple of dollars. They are tapered so keep contact with the whole bottom of the cabinet ..... better than having small blocks of wood . Any carpenter can make them but it was faster and easier for me to just buy them.I went to IKEA without DH this morning! He definitely would not approve of my picks. I bought 3 bookshelves that fit into my oddly-shaped half-story room. I bought cellular blinds for the last 2 windows in my house without shades, and curtain rods because they are much-much more sturdy than what I can get at walmart. For my kids' bedrooms. They've each ruined curtain rods by hanging *stuff* from them or repurposing them. Also picked 2 matching lamps for the odd half-story room. They light up the dark corners of the room where the walls are too short for a regular table lamp.
Shelves are installed, but not anchored to the wall. The walls are so crooked there is a 3" gap between the wall and the shelves at the top. Thankfully my kids are past the climbing stage.
I'm feeling remarkably well today, so I cleaned more than usual. Might get caught up on regular dishes/laundry/daily clutter by tomorrow night? I also was well enough to enforce DS7's bedtime and he fell asleep hours earlier than usual.
I thought about it and didn't want a gap at the bottom. Must not have thought very hard - I can add a trim board. It would help the 3 bookcases look more like 1 custom built unit too. Thanks for sharing your idea - it's a good one!Did you ever consider using shims under the front of the bookshelves or cabinets or anything to get them to "lean back" towards the wall and actually makes them less likely to want to "fall forward" ?????
