I've been feeling continuously worse over a month or so - it started before my surgery so I'm sure it's not related. It got to the point where my vitals and functioning matched the same as before I started medication.

I did some digging around.... My medication degrades when exposed to light (per manufacturer's leaflet). My rx was not dispensed in a light resistant container per manufacturer instructions, and, not knowing better, I usually leave my (clear) tub of medication bottles in my windowsill.

I got a refill and put it in an opaque bottle and started using a new light-proof container for medication (it locks with a key for toddler-safety). I called the pill manufacturer and left a message to ask how long it takes for the medication to degrade when exposed to light to judge the feasibility of my hypothesis.

Today is first dose from the new rx (same medication, new pills). and I feel normal and functional! :weee

So there is homestead news today!

DH and I sorted sheep for breeding. DH is the type to herd push livestock animals away with pressure. Y'know... doing it right! I'm the type to tame those sheep, lead train, and teach them to come when called by name. :hide DH went into the ewe pen (4 tame ewes, 2 wild ewe lambs) and they SPOOKED. Of course! I'm not sure what happened exactly, but there was a ewe lamb with all 4 feet in the air, bunny hopping out the door and DH got his elbow smashed between an animal and part of the building.

While he cussed and nursed his elbow, I went in with a small dish of grain, called my oldest girls over by name (oh yeah!) and shooed them outside. I had DH spook one of the wild ewe lambs to get her moving and then she went out. 3 on one side of the gate, 3 on the other. oh - and the ones I wanted. :D Can I get a gold star? DH separated and moved the rams and it's date night for sheep.

We cleaned the barn, talking about canning chicken, but heck we can't catch the darn birds loose in the barn.

I'm starting cooking down stuff to can later. Same things I listed before, we'll see how much I can get done!

So glad you figured out the problem and really hope you continue to feel better.

Silly men! They gotta push, drag, tackle and just plain try to force the issues, lol. Bribery will usually get more results with a critter than force.

Hope his elbow isn't too damaged!

Oh good thinking! Hope that fixes your issue!

Yeah my husband hasn't figured out how to bribe the goats either. They are my girls, lol. They don't care about his existence a bit!

I'm off to catch some roosting chickens to process tomorrow. We have the same problem with catching them so we have to go snatch them after dark! Lol

I don't know how DH did it! He caught 3 roosters (daytime), did the messy part outdoors and brought them in for me. I cut them up, deboned them and packed them into jars to can tomorrow. Ball Complete Canning book says to chill them for 6 - 12 hours before canning. Makes no sense to me, but whatever.

I canned the chicken. Ran out of water in the last 5 minutes of processing. Doh! There was 1 cup of liquid in the canner, but I suspect it ran out, pressure dropped, and jars siphoned. The liquid in the canner was very brothy and there was about the same amount of liquid missing from the jars. I put them in the fridge to be safe. 8 pints from 3 "soup" chickens. Plus 2 pots of broth (to be canned) and 2 carcasses in the freezer for future broth/soup.

The remaining tomatoes (a couple hundred pounds) are going to the chickens. I'm done. I didn't do any green tomato recipes.

"I'm done" just in time to can chicken, broth, pumpkin, and soon venison and mutton. :th :gig These will all be new-to-me so I'm excited to try!

DH went out bowhunting this afternoon. DS10 made supper! He made buttermilk biscuits - they turned out fantastic! And he cut them into heart shapes, which was adorable! :love Served with home-canned green beans, kale-spinach salad, and venison/venison gravy.

I'm grooming a dog at home tomorrow, so I've been trying to clean up and pretend I haven't been sick (or canning) and neglecting my house lately. :p
