When I got to the farm and told them I was done, I was grinning from ear to ear. Now, I'll finally have time to get something done! I haven't been keeping up on everybody's journals cuz I just didn't have time, or I was too beat to read them. Now, I'll be able to get caught up on them. Plus, I'm already planning on buying some peaches next week and making jam, peach cobbler (w/out the cobbler) and dehydrating some. I left on good terms, so I can go back and pick the elderberries, so I'll be making jelly also. I can't wait!

Today hubby was finally going to build my chicken coop for me. After all, if he didn't do it today, it will be a few weeks B4 he can work on it. He's going to be working 10-14 hour days for a couple of weeks, 7 days a week. So, we got everything all loaded up, including the new compressor I got him for Christmas, and my generator, and left. We figure out what wood we're going to need from the pile I have at the farm, load that in the back of my truck, and drive it over to where we're going to build it. While I'm feeding horses and scooping poop, hubby gets all set up. He starts the generator, and starts cutting wood. Then, he goes to put together what he's cut. He plugs the compressor in, and that's when we realize that even though the generator is 2.8 horsepower, and the compressor is only 2.0, it uses too many watts. :hit So, we load everything back into the truck-along w/the wood, and go home. So, no coop for now. :hit

KN has been saying for several weeks now that there's things she'd do around the farm-if she had a hammer. She went to buy one, and got a shovel instead. I got tired of her complaining about not having a hammer. Saturday, hubby and I went into Harbor Freight. They had hammers on sale for $3.49, so I got one. I also got a new staple gun. It takes 3 different sizes of staples. I had misplaced my staple gun a few years ago, and had gotten another one, then found mine. It was a bit rusty. So, that gave me 2. Buying this one gave me 3. I don't need 3, so I took the rusty one out to the farm. It still works fine. I put the staple gun and the hammer down in her tack area on Saturday. Yesterday morning I fed her horse. Then, I saw her later in the day and mentioned to her that I saw she finally got a hammer and a staple gun. She thought the hammer came from PT and that the staple gun was mine. I showed her that mine was in my tool box. So, she figured that it came from PT. PT was under the impression that KN brought them. Now, they're thinking they came from RU. RU is away, so they can't ask her. I'm not planning on letting them know where they came from. I'll let them go nuts trying to figure it out. Plus, I think I have a coupon for free screwdrivers from HF. Maybe I'll get them for them, too. After all, they borrow mine, and I'd rather give them some than worry about them losing mine.

Today was the first day I didn't have to go to work on a Monday in 2.5 years! But, since it was a holiday, it felt more like a Saturday. I think tomorrow is when it will finally start to sink in.

OK, I'm getting a little tired of all the rain that we've had. When we were supposed to go camping, we got 10" of rain. That was on a Sunday. A week and a half later, we got a few more inches on a Thursday. Then, we got Irene. That was just over a week ago. Now, we have the remnants of Lee, and we're getting more rain, and we could get several more inches today, as well as more rain over the next few days. :he :hit

In spite of the fact that it was raining, I was able to get some stuff done. I figure I could get rid of some of the weeds in my field today, so I did some weeding. I tried to scoop poop, but it was just too wet.

Rerun is limping and has a swollen paw. She's been doing this all weekend, but of course, the vet's office was closed. Today, she was putting more weight on her paw, so I thought about not calling. Then, I discovered that she has a lump on that leg. She's almost due for her shots, and Cindy is overdue. So, both cats have an appointment for tomorrow afternoon to get their shots, and get Reruns leg/paw checked out. I hope she's OK.

This morning, I FINALLY finished my sauce. I was afraid it wouldn't be any good, but it was still fine. It's now in jars. Thursday, I plan on picking elderberries and making jelly, plus I hope to get some peaches! I'm so happy about that!

Good thing you are taking her in. Swelling on a cat needs to be looked at, you are a good cat-mom.
