Well, w/the rain early, I got nothing done outside. I seriously thought about taking the bike this morning since it had stopped raining by the time I was ready to leave. But, I decided to check the radar. And, it showed another shower heading my way. So I took the truck-w/all the leaves in the back of it! Good thing I took it. By the time I got to the farm, it started to rain again. I had uncovered my hay when I stuck out a RB the other day, and hadn't recovered it. So, once I had the horses fed, I went ahead and recovered it. I noticed that the electric rope in front of it was sagging. I figured it must have stretched out. So, I went and got my wrenches so I could redo near the handle. I start to tighten up the rope when I look at the post I had put in there. It was leaning. I straightened it up, and wallah!, the rope was tight again. I don't know if one of the horses hit it, or if it's because the ground is so wet.
Next, I took a good look at the gutter on my barn. And, no wonder it's so wet in front of it! First off, the gutter isn't straight. Next off, there are places where the shingles are broke off B4 they reach the gutter. And, in a couple of spots, the gutter looks to be higher than the edge of the roof!

I'm wondering if there's anything I can do for now. RU plans to replace it next year, but looking at the board it's attached to, I think that's going to need to be replaced as well. I did stick part of a 55 gallon barrel under it where the worst of the water leaks down. And, since I know at least Licorice and Honey would try to move it, it's tied in place. Hopefully, it will mean that a lot less water will pool right there.
By the time I got these 2 things done, it was raining even harder. I thought about doing some stuff in my tack shed, but decided to wait. They're calling for more rain next week, and I needed to go the store. I only had 1 acorn squash, and no cheese. I figured if I went to the store, by the time I got back, enough time would have elapsed so I could give Stormy his second feeding, then head on home. KN decided to go w/me. It was too wet for her to do anything either. She's been working w/one of RU's horses. Since he's hard to catch, and he's in a 9 acre field, he's been in the RP. But, w/the weather, there was no way we could leave him there-no shelter. So, she turned him out w/CL's horses. But, B4 leaving, we watched to be sure they wouldn't fight. And, I've come to the conclusion, one of CL's horses isn't the brightest in the bunch.
He's the one we were most worried about. Her other 2 horses had no problem w/L being in there. But, J was in the run in. We kept waiting for him to go out to the hay. He went out, and part way to the RB, then stopped. Then, he turned around and ran back to the run in. He got there, and turned around, and went back. You could tell he was agitated. Then, he starts calling. That's when we realized, he didn't see on of the other horses, and was looking for her! She was on the far side of the RB, and didn't really care that he couldn't find her. I finally ended up getting a lead rope, and taking him to where she was. Once he found her, he was fine. He didn't care that the other horse was there at all.
When we got back from the store, PT was there-along w/some friends of her's. PT is a nice person, but has no horse sense. I fed Stormy, bagged some feed, then went and took care of my chickens. I found a 4 leaf clover which I decided to take down to them. (I find them all the time.) She decided to give them some pony rides. She couldn't get the horse to walk up the the mounting block correctly. I showed her how. Then, she was ready to let them dismount onto the mounting block. THAT can be VERY dangerous. Even though the horse was taller than what I'm used to, I got the riders down in the same way I do when I do pony rides. That way, if the horse moves, there's almost NO chance of them getting hurt. But, of course, all of this took time. I was finally able to leave. And, since I had the truck, I decided to take home my trash-a whole feed bag worth. (Mainly baling twine, we go thru too much for me to worry about saving it.)
I got home, ate my lunch, read my Bible some, then started working on my son's room. I have now done as much in there as I can until he comes over to help! The rest of the old rug is up. Everything I could tell for sure is trash has been thrown out. And, there are several boxes for him to go thru. I'm hoping that there's enough room to get the exercise equipment down there!
Then, I started on the "library". This is the room w/the wood stove in it. I get this done, and I'll be able to relax in front of the fire w/a book! I should have that done by Friday at the latest. Then, I can get the rest of the upstairs done. Once that's done, I'll do no more until my son comes over and sorts thru his junk.
I didn't get anything done outside, it was too wet. But, since it's supposed to be breezy tomorrow, that should help stuff to dry up some, so I should be able to get some done then.
I don't know if hubby liked the squash or not, he didn't tell me. But, he did eat a whole one. I'll make them again, but I've learned a couple of things.
1. Don't cook the squash for as long as they say, or as hot as they say. They were too well done when I took them out.
2. Don't cook the filled squash for a long. I only did them for about 10, 15 minutes, and they were fine.
3. Don't put them back in the oven once you put the cheese on. If you do, you can't even SEE the cheese.
I didn't put the rice in the mix. I don't particularly care for the rice I have right now, and keep forgetting to get more. I had a bit of the meat mixture left, so one day, I'll bake a potato in the wood stove, heat up the rest of the mix, and top the potato w/it. I might even make it some time for over mashed potatoes.
